Do you get up at the same time at the weekend as during the week?

I only ask because my internal body clock woke me up about 20 minutes EARLIER this morning because (I think) it knew I hadn't set the alarm clock for 5.45am as usual and was making sure I got up "on time". So 5.20am this morning. Cheers for that.

I do usually get up at around the same time even at weekends and during holidays though. The idea of a lie-in doesn't appeal at all - I'd rather have a catnap later in the afternoon if I'm feeling really tired, or go to bed earlier.

So are you more the type to sleep longer when you don't need to get up for work/school/etc or rather get up the same time every day regardless of what you're doing?

Hell no.
6am alarm on a work day.
Whenever I wake on a weekend - but that is usually around 7 or 7.30.

However, by posting at this time of day, you are likely to get the people who rise early, and miss out on comments from people who are enjoying a long sleep.

I get up at 5am on week days and am physically exhausted by Friday after working a 55hr week, but can rarely sleep beyond 6am. Very frustrating as around 2pm on Saturday it catches up with me and I snooze on the sofa. I never really feel full of energy.

Stressfordays · 14/10/2023 08:00

I wake up at 6.15 on weekdays and work days (I work shifts so work weekends at times). Its my day off and I woke at 7.30 today, normally I'd sleep in later but I've got some stuff to get on with today. Hoping for a 9am lay in tomorrow!

IncompleteSenten · 14/10/2023 08:01

Wake up, yes
Get up, hell no. Right now I'm lying in bed with the cat sleeping across me. Neither of us have plans to move.

mamaduckbone · 14/10/2023 08:43

God no! I am definitely not a morning person and hate that my alarm goes off at 6.15 in the week.
I wake up naturally at around 8am at the weekend - sometimes I do wake earlier but I can easily fall back to sleep usually.

inomniaparatis · 14/10/2023 08:45

I do, but only because my baby does! Otherwise I would definitely like a weekend lie in. I have heard it's better for your health to wake up at the same time each day though. I cling to that thought at 6am on Sunday mornings...

SaracensMavericks · 14/10/2023 08:45

Yes, I used to lie in when I was younger, but these days my body clock wakes me. I don't mind though - it's quite nice having the house to myself for a couple of hours!

Coldinscotland · 14/10/2023 08:46

Woken up at 6 am 7 days a week by a bunch of selfish wazzacks doing their hobby....
😡

itispersonal · 14/10/2023 08:48

Yes it's very rare I lie in as much as I want to! Especially when at the moment my wake up time is between 4 and 5 and my week day alarm is 6.30!! Grr!

genesis92 · 14/10/2023 08:51

Yes I do now because I have a baby. It really sucks 😆

Lovelyautumncolours · 14/10/2023 09:03

I don't need an alarm these days as I naturally wake up before 6am on weekdays. Saturday mornings I normally wake up around 5am - I think I go to bed more relaxed so I get a deeper sleep.

It's annoying as when my children were young I would have loved a lie-in now they're older I could but I can't (peri-menopause doesn't help!)

TheKitchenWitch · 14/10/2023 10:26

@Hardbackwriter& @FallingAutumnLeaf

That is a really good point, so I'm adding this little post to bump it a bit and see what the later crowd say :D

Since catch up tv (IPlayer etc) came about, have had almost the same time going to bed and getting up. Reinforced by the Covid restrictions in 2020 and 2021.

No1MumPendant · 14/10/2023 10:32

Absolutely not!

I get up between 5.30-6am Mon-Fri.

Sat & Sun, unless I have some pressing engagement (rare) I don’t get up before 9am. I usually stir around the time I’d get up in the week, but I roll over and go back to sleep (bliss!).

EddieHowesShithousingMags · 14/10/2023 10:35

Absolutely not, get up on a work day about 7.15. I’ve just woken up in the last 20 minutes today. If left i naturally wake between 10-11ish. Probably won’t get up out of bed properly for at least another half hour or so.

whatisforteamum · 14/10/2023 10:36

Yes 440 am.
I can't do lie ins unless I'm ill.
I can do a cat nap around 2-4 sometimes.
I always wake up easily and happily so think the routine helps.

Sartre · 14/10/2023 12:00

Yeah but I have children so a lie-in isn’t really a thing.
