Do you save the "best" part of your meal for the end?

I always eat the best bit first... What if I get full in 'boring' food? 😱

If we have sausage, veg and mash, DS will very carefully save his sausages until last... Madness!

Yes best bit is saves until last, it's something to look forward to otherwise I wouldn't eat the other bits.

TheNameIsDickDarlington · 11/10/2023 17:51

For example with a roast dinner you get the broccoli and other boring gross bits put of the way so you can enjoy your roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding without the impending threat of having to eat a sprout or something.

Favouritefruits · 11/10/2023 17:52

I used to do this but one Christmas ended up too full for my lovely Yorkshire pud, it was devastating so now I mix and match as I eat. I never want a repeat of the left Yorkshire pudding as clearly it has stayed with me for 15years 😂

TheBirdintheCave · 11/10/2023 17:55

No I eat little bits of everything throughout the meal as he flavour combos are the best part to me.

Came on to say these exact words!

No-one wants their last mouthful to be broccoli Shock

SquigglePigs · 11/10/2023 18:04

I mix and match through my meal but always make sure I save a couple of "perfect" mouthfuls to the end.

CalistoNoSolo · 11/10/2023 18:07

Only Yorkshire puddings. I totally heart Yorkshire puddings and they should never be sullied by any other part of the meal.

MidnightOnceMore · 11/10/2023 18:09

Carefully balanced throughout but keep something perfect for last.

Bluevelvetsofa · 11/10/2023 18:10

@SquigglePigs That’s the correct method!

EfficientlyDecluttering · 11/10/2023 18:11

Yorkshire puddings are ideally eaten first as a starter.

I do the "save the most perfect mouthful" thing, but if I sense myself getting too full I eat that and leave the boring stuff.

ForeverYellow · 11/10/2023 18:11

Mix and match but the last forkfuls are carefully saved so there is a little bit of all the best bits together .

StoatofDisarray · 11/10/2023 18:13

Not, I eat the best bits first and stop when I've had enough.

This is how I eat too.
Dh eats all of one thing and then moves on to the next, I think he is strange!

TheBirdintheCave · 11/10/2023 18:18

@BerriesNutsConkers My husband is the same 😂

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 11/10/2023 18:18

Yes 😊

Get the veg out of the way first then eat the rest saving the biggest/crispiest/creamiest part until the end!

BurbageBrook · 11/10/2023 18:18

Best bits first although sometimes do best bit (for me usually the meat or fish), then veg then carb,to make sure I'm not too full for my vegetables. If it was in real order of preference I suspect carbs would usually come second.

NotToYou · 11/10/2023 18:19

Veg out of the way first, then everything else while saving my favourite bit til last.

WorkSmarter · 11/10/2023 18:25

I say this as a warning to those people who save the best til last!

I did that one same thing one summer holiday and saved the best bit of a picnic, the sausage to the end.

By the time I came to the sausage I was very full, and a bit heavier. I leaned forward to stretch for the last delicious remaining sausage... but in so doing I tipped the sun bed forward ⛱ and plunged my lovely, slightly charred sausage 🍣 deep into the white sand.

I was in absolute shock, disbelief and honestly nearly cried!

The worst day of my life so far and still getting over it 5 years later!

My advice is always eat the best bit first!! 😜🤣🤣😋xx

Aperitif, starter, main, as a snack... 😊

Ideally eaten last with jam as pudding actually...

I'm old enough to only eat nice food that I like, so it's not an issue. Though I do sometimes have pudding then decide whether I have room for anything else.

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 11/10/2023 18:33

I do a mix of both, I'm greedy and tend to clear my plate anyway and go back for seconds ha!
A good trick for getting veg into kids is to serve them their veggies first while they are hungriest before the rest of their food- otherwise they will fill up and not touch the veggies!

SisterMichaelsHabit · 11/10/2023 18:35

YABU I'm with DS.

ETA: Argh I was thinking of my dinner and didn't realise this was in chat not AIBU! 😅
