Has anyone tried a Groove Pillow?

They're all over my social media at the moment and I just wondered if anyone 'real' had tried them? I suffer a lot with neck pain due to disc problems.

Trustpilot suggests they're good but I never know whether those reviews are manipulated?

I bought one when when I was having neck and shoulder problems. It was great, so I would recommend. I'm a side sleeper, had physio too. Now that my neck is better, my DH has stolen the pillow and uses it ever night. The only drawback is that they're a little ugly on your bed 😁

Isitbedtimeyet10 · 05/10/2023 22:06

Yes, total game changer. And I was so sceptical!

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 06/10/2023 06:56

Great, thank you. I think I'll get one. I'm a side sleeper too but worried it looks a bit flat.

I'll order one today. Would be nice to wake up now and again without neck ache!

My husband really struggles with aches and pains and getting a good night's sleep but he wouldn't be without his.

fifteenfifty · 06/10/2023 06:59

Just got one and really like it.

MyDogSmellsTerrible · 06/10/2023 17:13

Thanks all, going to give it a try!

I'm a side sleeper and this was the main reason I bought one as I was sick of stuffing the pillow as tight into my neck as I could. They really are a perfect fit, no more creaking your neck from side to side on a morning to wake it up!

IFeelSoSoSad · 06/10/2023 19:41

I have had one for a year which I find great for back sleeping, but for me (wide shouldered), it isn’t high enough for me to side sleep. However they do sell a new one with inserts that make it higher, and I presume better for me as a side sleeper. It is on my Christmas list!

Cakeorchocolate · 03/01/2024 11:42

@MyDogSmellsTerrible did you try thr groove pillow?
How have you found it?

I've been thinking of trying it for ages and decided to go for it, then thought I'd search on here first and found your post.

WellWillWoll · 03/01/2024 11:49

Hi @Cakeorchocolate

No I didn't in the end. I have trouble with my sinuses and need to sleep with my head fairly raised.

I think it would be too flat for me - otherwise I definitely would have bought one.

Currently still sleeping with a balled up pair of socks in the crook of my neck!

Sorry - name changed a while ago and don't know how to reply as old name!!

BananaPalm · 03/01/2024 11:51

We bought it for my husband and it was a total miss. If you are a side sleeper, unless you are able to position yourself ideally in the middle of the pillow, all night long, you might wake up with worse pain. Their customer service is also a bit weird - it was a hassle to return it. And you need to keep absolutely all packaging (the plastic bag as well as the box) for your return to be accepted.

HoleGuacamole · 03/01/2024 12:43

Yes, and I hate it.

I’m a side sleeper and it was just too low on the middle, you end up in the middle regardless of where you start the night and the sides probable weren’t high enough anyway.

I’m also struggling to return under their 100 day guarantee. They’re ignoring my emails requesting a returns address (despite very promptly replying to my initial email with an offer of a 50% refund if I kept the pillows).

I also bought the X pillow which I also didn’t get on with.

Ooh could you PM me the returns address? I have them perfectly pre packaged but they’re ignoring my emails and I’m getting dangerously close to 100 days.

mrskimsneakattack · 03/01/2024 12:47

I hated it, if anything it made my neck worse! Currently using a Simba Hybrid which whilst not miraculous is definitely helping.

paddlemyowncanoe · 03/01/2024 12:56

I am currently working my way through every pillow on the market in an attempt to get a half decent night's sleep.

The first one I bought was the groove, and I had high hopes for it. Sadly this turned out not to be the case. I tried it for both side and back sleeping. I found it too hard/ solid, tossed and turned all night and woke up with neck and shoulder ache.

I persevered for a week, but gave up and moved onto my next victim. So far the search continues

Cakeorchocolate · 03/01/2024 21:52

Thanks for responding @WellWillWoll and everyone else too for the extra feedback, it was looking very positive for it before the latest posts. I'd always looked at it and thought it looked a little awkward for side sleeping but thought it may be worth a try. I don't think I'll bother. I hope those of you looking to return manage to get sorted.

If it helps anyone, I use a Mitre Linen Ultraloft pillow as I like a high pillow as a side sleeper. I slept on one in a hotel once and fortunately it had on the label what it was. They're cheap too. They're so high they push the pillow case to it's limit when they're new. I've used them for about 7 years now I think. Easily the best one I've ever tried, and I've tried lots.

I also use a Cervical neck roll from time to time also depending on my neck pain and pillow configuration.

BananaPalm · 05/01/2024 09:02

@HoleGuacamole Sure, I've got the address but sorry for a daft question but how do I DM it to you on the mobile app? Can't see an obvious option...

Oh! And you need to email them a photo of your proof of postage as otherwise they won't refund you...

toomuchlikemyusername · 05/01/2024 09:14

I have one and I kind of like it but it's not been the fix I (probably misguidedly) thought it would be.

I suffer with migraines and have a lot of neck pain which could be connected. The pillow helped with some of the morning discomfort but the headaches etc continued. I've since been having physio which has helped significantly.

The pillow took a while to get used to and isn't ideal if I'm having a night of bad sleep and tossing and turning. I keep a regular pillow on the bed as well and use whichever feels best on any particular night.

I’ve managed to speak to them, so don’t worry.

They’ve actually gone into liquidation, so are not trading at the moment. They’ve said they intend to resume trading and then will accept the refund, but let’s see what happens… I should’ve accepted the partial refund when they first offered!

HoleGuacamole · 05/01/2024 10:42

I have recently bought the Simba hybrid pillow though which I think might the panacea of pillows that I have spent my life searching for (but I am only a week in).

BoatingParent · 09/02/2024 10:23

Created an account just to add some info to this. Been reading mumsnet for a long time, but now finally created an account.

I've had a Groove pillow for months now, and love it. Although I did need to get in touch with them and all was well until around November when I just started getting ignored. Not to worry, I figured I had all their promised in writing in emails, so we'll see. And with our newborn, I had other things on my mind anyway.

So I finally got round to emailing them again this week, and as confirmed by others, they did go into liquidation in november, hence the lack of replies. But they said they are back in business now and just in the process of getting things set up again, and they claim they are honouring all refunds. So that explains the radio silence, although leaves me wondering why they liquidated, and hopefully their products are still good.

Right so back to the actual Pillow. I love the pillow, its done wonders for my neck problems, and I've even tried pillows that are £80 and done nothing, so I was relieved this pillow for around £35 solved it! I did however have some niggling issues, like every so often (rarely though) my neck would still hurt, and I felt the pillow maybe was still a bit high. Hence I emailed them, and after several suggestions which didnt change things, they suggested I change it for their Groove 2.0 pillow which has adjustable height. Can be higher or lower, but for me, I needed it lower.

So lets hope this week I find out they can still send me the groove 2.0 version. Otherwise the version 1 is "good enough" as its solved 95% of my issues.

P.s. I was a side sleeper, but then now ive found I sleep better on my back, probably sadly due to my weight gains. The idea with this pillow is that the middle part is optimized for back sleeping (lower and more supportive) and then the left and right sides are for side sleeping, which are higher and also curve inwards as it goes down, so that your shoulders can slot in slightly under the pillow. It works really well for me that part, but I can understand for people who move around a lot at night, that it might be hard staying on the side part.

Either way, if you give it a go, I hope it works for you! Here is the reply from their head of customer service that I received this week when I emailed in, maybe that helps clarify some things for people.

----
"Thanks for getting in touch! Firstly, please allow us to apologize for the lack of communication over the last month if you have been trying to contact us in relation to your order.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, Groove Pillows had to cease trading on November 14th, and for legal reasons, we were not able to reach out to you as the original company was dissolved.

This means that during this time the website was not able to process any new orders and we were not able to issue any refunds. We are sincerely sorry for any stress and inconvenience that this may have caused you. However, we are pleased to tell you that Groove Pillows will shortly be back up and running and the website will once again be able to fulfil orders. We are just finalizing our logistics arrangements and will begin shipments as soon as possible.

We will be honouring all refunds that we committed to but please bear with us as we restart our operations.

We thank you for your patience during this time and hope to resolve your query as soon as possible. If you have any additional information that you think will help us to assist you, please feel free to reply to this email and one of our customer service team will be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,
Dusan
Head of Customer Service"

I only just got this email reply today, so we'll wait and see if they still honour replacing my 1.0 pillow with the 2.0 version. Hopefully fingers crossed!

Please could you PM me the address to return the groove pillow? It arrived last week in a disgusting, filthy package smelling mouldy and musty so I never opened it. They are ignoring my emails and I can’t find their phone number. They said contact us on WhatsApp but that link doesn’t work. Nightmare!

I didn't return it as they eventually got in touch with me and said they'd gone into administration/liquidation so weren't taking returns at the moment, but would honour the returns in future... I ended up just giving up and still have the pillow.

Thanks for your reply. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath they’ll answer my emails!

Thanks for your reply. Fingers crossed but not holding my breath they’ll answer my emails!

Just to update, beginning of march I decided to email them again as they sent a mailinglist email out to say that they were back up and running. In my email I explained the situation briefly and gave them the address for the replacement and they did end up replying to me confirming a replacement Groove 2.0 adjustable pillow had been sent. Received and works great.

To anyone else who struggled to get things sorted with them; I suggest emailing in again now, it might be a different story and hopefully you get sorted. Good luck.
