British Snacks Question

Ok so this is random but it’ll really help me if anybody knows.

Can anyone give me examples of British snacks (chocolate/biscuits/crisps/baked goods with longish dates) that are made in the UK and not sold/sent to Alaska/US?

I know it’s really random but I’m thinking things like Tunnocks tea cakes perhaps. Not things like Walkers because you can buy Leys crisps in the US and same for Cadbury’s etc.
Thanks 😊

Look up Yorkshire Peach on FB and TikTok. Not only is she hilarious, she often does videos about things that she’s tried that aren’t available in the US. From memory, a couple were Monster Munch and Quavers and any type of squash. It’s just not a ‘thing’, only things like Tropicana.

Take out the fig rolls.

They're called Fig Newtons in the US and you can buy them everywhere.

Yeah I did think Fig Newtons were probably the same. I’ll try and grab some Percy Pigs when I’m out tomorrow then.

Eccles cakes?

My nephew in law in Illinois used to ask for Midget Gems and sherbet lemons.

I don't think they have blackcurrant flavoured things in America as it's illegal, or something...they have grape/watermelon. So, er, squash or lemsip? Sorry. Grin

Totally couldn’t get Percy Pigs today but Eccles Cakes was what I’d thought about a while back so I’ll grab those instead of the fig rolls and Stilton. You can send Cheese to Alaska but then DD said the smell mixed in with baby gifts might be a bit pungent! 😂

Actually, they were very popular here until a plant fungus wiped them out.

But blackcurrant products are widely available here now. I have a jar of blackcurrant jam in the fridge.

There's an intriguing reason why 99.9% of Americans have never tasted blackcurrant but Europeans love it

Blackcurrants are popular in Europe but were banned in America in the early 1900s because they spread a fungus that kills white pine trees.

Ooh crisps mostly, skips, monster munch, French fries, bacon rashers

Chocolate oranges (yum), Christmas pudding, mince pies, Turkish delight
