Do most take dc to Lapland?

OP posts:
Sandsnake · 28/09/2023 20:48

A couple from DS’ class, which includes his best mate. Been slightly tough to explain as our FC story has always been ‘he’s magical, nobody really know where he lives, how he does it’ etc. Then of course DS is like ‘but X went to see him in Lapland’. Obviously didn’t want to piss on Xs family’s parade so just came up with a bit of a fudge.

Goodbyegreysky · 28/09/2023 20:50

No, but I’d do love to!

But reading it’s £3 K for a day trip has just confirmed to me that we’re never going 😩

thiswasabadone · 28/09/2023 20:52

No change too cold and expensive. My children much prefer seeing Santa in the garden Center

DismantleMe · 28/09/2023 20:55

We went last year. I can count on one hand how many others I know who've been or plan to go. We loved it but wouldn't go back, once in a lifetime was enough.

Sartre · 28/09/2023 20:57

Of course not, it costs thousands of pounds.

Goodbyegreysky · 28/09/2023 20:58

I know more people who’ve been to Disney Paris-which is better?

DueyCheatemAndHow · 28/09/2023 21:02

Really silly question, obviously not. But God there are some angry, bitter people on here.

CoreopsisEverywhere · 28/09/2023 21:03

No, of course not. I don’t anyone one who has done this.

pinkfondu · 28/09/2023 21:03

No

2jacqi · 28/09/2023 21:04

only the millionaires do that!! it is so yesterday anyway!!!!😂

Silkiebunny · 28/09/2023 21:09

We've been in 2012 when it was about £2,000 for 4 of us for 4 days with activities and flights included and some food, was absolutely amazing and would love to go every year but prices have gone up and more of an one-off. Don't know anyone else who has been. It was seriously cold but you aren't actually outside that long, and they give you snowsuits etc. The inside places are very warm, could go round those in T-shirt and shorts. Kids talked about it for years, they were 5 and 7, wouldn't take under 5s.

Cloudandpies · 28/09/2023 21:11

No

Mrsmch123 · 28/09/2023 21:11

I don't know anyone who has been but it's on the list of places to take my boy. He's only 2 so won't be for 4/5 years yet

Dillane · 28/09/2023 21:21

Give over OP.

HerculesTheBercules · 28/09/2023 21:22

I take mine most months, in our private jet, and our sleighs are pulled by unicorns, so yep, totally normal round here 😂

zeibesaffron · 28/09/2023 21:31

No I don’t think so - I took my 2 when they were 8 and 10 (10 years ago), it was amazing and we had the most wonderful time! It took a lot of saving up though!

Carsarelife · 28/09/2023 21:34

We went about 4 years ago. Totally magical. Same price for 4 nights as it is for 2 weeks all inclusive somewhere. But we really enjoyed it nonetheless

TokyoSushi · 28/09/2023 21:35

Ah maybe you're right @Qilin and it's higher than average. We live in quite a 'new money, 'executive' new builds area' if you know what I mean! We haven't been!

Choccybear20 · 28/09/2023 21:39

I am planning on doing so because I’ve been before (not at xmas) and absolutely loved it….snow, log cabins, saunas, northern lights. What’s not to like? It’d be very special at xmas too.

This.

topnoddy · 28/09/2023 21:46

Mine have been to Iceland

Neodymium · 28/09/2023 21:51

We are going this year and staying for 3 days in the village. It is outrageously expensive but it’s something of a pilgrimage I guess for the kids. My youngest dd is 10 and oldest ds is 14. We planned to go in 2020 bus covid stopped that. I think mine are on the upper limit of ages to enjoy it and would have been better when they were 7, 9 and 11 but that’s just the way it is! Luckily my ds14 is a huge Christmas nerd and loves helping me with Santa and elves for dd so he will still enjoy it.

CandyLeBonBon · 28/09/2023 21:57

Yes dahling. But don't forget to pack the nanny and the Canada Goose!

PatsWoggle · 28/09/2023 22:03

We're planning a cold holiday next year but I wouldn't go and see Father Christmas I find it really awkward.

Iloveburgerswaymorethanishould · 29/09/2023 02:53

I suspect, this year especially, “most people” won’t be able
to afford to see Santa at their local garden centres!! Never mind Lapland!!! I know a lot of people who have been though and none say it was as mind blowing as it’s made out to be!!
