Are heated clothes airers worth it?

I'm thinking of getting one. There seem to be a lot for sale on FB marketplace and I'm wondering if that's because people don't use them or they aren't very good. Do you have one and is it worth the price to buy/run?

Could not be without mine. I originally had a cheaper one that was shaped like an ironing board with wings at each end, and that was rubbish. I now have one of the dry:soon ones from Lakeland and it's a game changer.

It is mystifying how polarised these answers are!

Isn't it just? I am none the wiser!

I don't have room for a tumble dryer, so my comparison really is a regular airer and dehumidifier, which is what I do at the moment. My dehumidifier died last year and I got a new one which is no where near as effective so my choice really is whether to invest in a heated airer or a new dehumidifier.

I think generally for people who have traded up from a non-heated airer they like them, people who have traded down from a tumble drier don't.

Id say heated airer plus dehumidifier if you've got a big load/load of jeans is probably them best combo if you already have a dehumidifier anyway.

Absolutely useless. All they do is dry a tiny strip of the clothes; the bit that's touching the heated bar.

Sold mine on FB marketplace 😂

Thank you - that is a really useful article. I do have damp so looks like a new dehumidifier is the way to go!

Thanks all for your input.

Which one did you have?

I found this with the one I had that was like an ironing board shape. With the Lakeland one it's completely different as it's like a tower and the heat travels up within the tower, especially if you put a cover on it.

Apparently one hitting Aldi shelves tomorrow.

Yes we got one 5 years ago and it's great!

I have the Lakeland Dry Soon one which is good but it is all down to how you hang the clothing. I also have a Victorian style airer in my bedroom and we have bought a dehumidifier and that I feel works even better. I now use a combination of them both and can dry a load in a day

Sandpitnotmoshpit · 11/10/2023 20:20

I have a tumble dryer and a heated airer and dehumidifier! We got the tumble dryer when we had a child as we were just producing too much washing for the heated airer and it was making our spare room damp, even with the dehumidifier.

I still use the heater airer but for clothes which don't go in the tumble drier (there are loads of my clothes I don't put in there but can go on the heated airer).
