Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just brewing my pot of tea, and about to have some breakfast. The window's open & the birds are chirping away. No-one else is up so it's nice and peaceful down here for now.

I've got a fairly chill day planned - lots of little jobs to do but all at a very slow pace.

I'm going to finish my Each, Peach, Pear, Plum peg dolls, send a couple of Vinted parcels, and nip to Lidl with dd1. Plus I want to do some more beading on my Eras Tour garter project.

Dd1 has Lit homework to be done, and dd2 has some Maths she needs help with so I'll have a look at that with her.

I've got a gammon in the slow cooker for tea. Not sure what we're having with it yet. Maybe as a roast, with cheese sauce 😋

Later it'll be early showers all round & earlyish nights. Dd2 got up in the night to watch someone's livestream of Adele's Vegas residency so will definitely need it!

What about all of you? 🙂

I've got my second cuppa and my eggs. The child (who is 6) is trying to teach her toy robots the YMCA.

AlisonDonut · 17/09/2023 10:03

We've been to a vide greniere (French version of boot fair) in one village and had a quick look round our local chateau ruins and my OH has put his name down to volunteer there and back home now. Just off to move a load of winter veg plants ready for planting out this afternoon in a freshly put together raised bed that I finished yesterday.

It is lovely and cooler today so perfect for planting.

Will do a veggie roast for lunch and will hopefully get a siesta in after that.

My favourite type of thread!
I'm just pottering at the moment and putting bits away while DH and DD play hungry hippos!
We are going to a local arts festival today and then the duck race! Shame the weather has turned.
This evening it's Pizza party at my sisters before a trip to the circus! Got to do a bit of work at some point as well...

Purplepeoniesdroppingpetals · 17/09/2023 10:04

Quietish start to the day here until dh put Elbow on the sinks. Woke at 4:30 so eventually gave up and got up to do some marks analysis, emails and online training - all done by 7am. Saw friends last night so a bit knackered but have a bright, autumnal morning to enjoy here. Roast chicken later with a salad and planning a house move. Have a lovely day all.

YapYap2023 · 17/09/2023 10:09

Lazy day today, as most Sundays are. Finishing a cup of tea and considering going for a walk. Then will watch films for the rest of the day, or find a good series.

Walked dog, took down living room curtains in an attempt to fix the curtain rail. Now thinking about new curtains. Room is much brighter without them up. Do I want curtains? Or would shutters be better? I HATE decorating. I just want my house to look nice…but I have no idea what I actually mean by that! 😂

LadyDaffodil · 17/09/2023 10:20

We dropped DD at Uni yesterday, so today I'm going to keep busy and give her room a spring clean, while waiting to hear from her and trying not to be the one to text first!

Good morning

I painted all of our basement last week and measured out where we want our stud walls to be. Today I’m starting to put some of the studs up, just the frames, as I have someone coming over on Wednesday to sort all the electrics, so once that is done I can put in the sound insulation and then plasterboard them all.

We went out for breakfast this morning, I’m just about used to eating out prices here now. It’s lovely and peaceful as my husband has taken his brother, the kids and the dog out, so it’s just me and the cat keeping busy today. The cat is very helpfully making sure she gets under my feet at any given opportunity.

Topsy44 · 17/09/2023 10:33

Having a lazy start to the day, still in pjs with a cuppa. DD is tackling some of her homework - just started Year 7 so we’re both trying to get to grips with it all.

We will pop out shortly for a mooch around local shops and probably get a coffee/cake. Then home for online food shop delivery and sorting out uniform/work stuff for the week ahead. DD might have a friend over for a bit and I will do a roast for dinner. Then flop and watch a film for Sun eve.

Its supposed to be raining later which I’m really looking forward to - has been quite muggy here last week (SE) and I am so ready for the Autumn weather!!

sad no recipe I'm afraid. Firstly I chop carrots, parsnips, swede and mushrooms into similar size chunks and throw them in the slow cooker. Then I coat bits of steak in flour and brown them and throw them in. Lastly I add beef stock with added tomato paste (a tablespoonful)and Worcestershire sauce and put it on high for an hour then change to low and leave it for hours. I'll stir occasionally. I usually stick a couple of bayleaves in but they aren't necessary. For the last hour, I sometimes make dumplings and add them and put the setting to high. I hope that helps.

Thanks thats great. Roughly how much beef stock do you need? Does it cover the ingredients or just like semi cover them?

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 17/09/2023 10:40

Ssd it doesn't quite cover everything but the veg and steak shrink a bit as they cook

Chelsea26 · 17/09/2023 10:42

I’m still in bed with DP - we were out at a friends party last night so having a lazy morning. No kids here today so will be a quiet one.

I just gave him some options of what he wants to do and he voted for continuing his garden room project while I cook a roast dinner so that’s what we’ll do.

looks quite bright out at the moment but apparently will rain later so I’ll get the dog out this morning and then laze and potter and cook this afternoon.

AllotmentTime · 17/09/2023 10:46

I am lying around feeling a bit crap post chemo. Sluggish, achey and not enthused to do much. DH is having a lie in, the kids are up and gaming. My goal for the day: shower.

I think DH has plans to nip over to a friend's at some point so at least one of us will get out. And he's cooking a curry later 😋

We will endeavour to prise the DC off their screens at some point too. 🤨 wish us luck with that one...

rosao · 17/09/2023 10:47

I'm currently on my second coffee of the day, the dog has been for his walk and is snoring on my lap. DC are amusing themselves with a mixture of youtube and playing a game that involves nerf guns and HP wands.

The weather is very autumnal today so we are happy pottering around at home. I can see the bottom of my laundry basket which is very unusual. Iron uniforms in a little while and hopefully get stuck into a new book.

Not sure whats for dinner yet, I have a chicken that needs to be cooked. Then an everything bath and an early night.

I adore Sundays!

mondaytosunday · 17/09/2023 10:48

Not a lot. Just finished breakfast and listening to the Archers. Need to tidy kitchen throw a load of washing on. Might have to give the dogs a wash as we have been battling fleas (been to groomers, got stuff from vet, have washed and sprayed the place but they are still itching).
But now considering another cup of tea!

Carolwithane · 17/09/2023 10:59

As little as possible! I was at a wedding reception last night with my wonderful workmates and shots were taken so I'm a bit tender this morning

DH took DS to football and will bring back breakfast. Had a shower and tided up a little, put a washing on etc....

Have a chicken to roast for dinner and need to collect a few Vinted parcels them some ironing

Spa day tomorrow tho, yay 🤗

Cowlover89 · 17/09/2023 11:04

Just a lazy day here. Not going to bother getting dressed. It's wet and horrible outside.

SomethingNastyInTheBallPool · 17/09/2023 11:09

Morning! Lazy Sunday here, too. I’m just girding my loins to have a shower while DP and DD are at the park.
So far, I’ve made some chocolate brownies, most of which will go in the freezer, and some aioli to have with roast chicken later.
Loads of washing to do, and I really want to spend some time organising my new stationery cabinet. I’m going to have a drawer just for pens!
Might start watching the new series of Virgin River this evening. So silly but completely addictive.

Coastalcreeksider · 17/09/2023 11:09

Up 7.30am, read newspapers online, know much more about RB than I really want to after yesterday. Had coffee then lovely cooked breakfast.

Packed up hallway as decorator coming tomorrow, now waiting for friend to come round for couple of hours of tea and chat.

That's probably it as rain forecast so won't be doing anything in the garden for next week or so looking at long range forecast.

Beaverbridge · 17/09/2023 11:15

Had rubbish sleep so gave up trying and got up at 7. Bowl of cereal cup of tea. OH woke, he's currently doing dishes from last night. (Lazy gits). Showered and dressed waiting on OH following suit then it, ll be bus to nearest big town. Buy dinner stuff and anything else we need. Home, he, ll make dinner and we, ll watch tv/scroll on phones. Darby and Joan!!!.

caringcarer · 17/09/2023 11:21

I'm feeling a bit sad because the cricket season finished yesterday. DS plays Saturdays and one night in week. Now just Winter training which is not as fun to watch.

HenryCavillsWife · 17/09/2023 11:26

I love these threads! My day could go in 2 directions.

What I should do

Shower, get dressed.
Take some forms into town.
Prep some WW-friendly meals.
Hoover upstairs.
Write some of my creative writing.
Paint a canvas I've been planning.
Do laundry.

What I could do
Slump around in comfy clothes.
Do the forms tomorrow.
Do the writing tomorrow.
Do the painting tomorrow.
Ignore the hoover, washing machine and the WW app.
Read MN, TikTok and a book.
Pick at everyone because I've wasted a day.
Go to bed feeling fat, unfulfilled and stressed.

fiddlesticksandotherwords · 17/09/2023 11:33

Tea in bed, then a mooch round a car boot sale with the inevitable bacon roll thrown in. Back home with the hoard, which today included a very nice vintage brooch, two small netsuki style small animal ornaments, a larger ornament of two giraffes with their necks intwined, and a collection of hundreds of old postage stamps in a large tupperware box for £5.

Then I went to Sainsburys to buy the wherewithal to make a roast dinner, and I'm now drinking coffee and chatting to DH, who's just got in from a walk.

mrsbyers · 17/09/2023 11:52

At the moment watching 90 day fiancé drinking coffee and eating crumpets

Then going to sort out dry washing into put away and ironing and my ironing fairy is coming later for Sunday lunch and her favourite job

Got to prep for Sunday lunch but husband is going to cook , have got a tiny joint of beef and same of pork so going to try air frying them.

Going to clear the last of the tomatoes from the greenhouse and cut and bag the plants for the tip. Once all gathered going to make a big pot of marinara sauce and pop to the tip with the greenhouse stuff while it reduces.

Thats about it for today - chill tonight and probably have some hot and sour soup for supper
