When did you turn 18 and what did you do?

Summer 2005, midweek birthday so family meal with one small glass of champagne as had an A level exam the next day. On the weekend clubbing with mates in my new boob tube dress from Morgan drinking WKD having the time of my life!

The summer of 2009. We went clubbing and had lots of buy one get two free VK oranges in our local nightclub and I went into work at 7am the next day in my supermarket job very hungover 🤣

1980 and I was in my shared dorm room at uni feeling pretty miserable as I had realised I was on the wrong course and hated where I was. Didn't celebrate it as such.

  1. I had just found out I was pregnant. I had moved to the south coast far away from family and friends to work as a trainee in art sales for a prestigious gallery. I loved that job. I told work I was pregnant and they sacked me Confused

July 2009. Got smashed at the pub on drink & drugs with my work friends and boyfriend (now DH). Remember being taken back to my boyfriends in a shopping trolley as I couldn't stand.
Got smashed the next night on drink with my old school friends. Bit of a blurry 18th. Grin

I remember eating cake and reading Cecelia Ahern book later in my bedroom. Was content in an innocent way.

It wasn't very good though and now it's a private horror because of men who centred their attention on me and got me scared for life and pretty paranoid.

June 2003. I had officially left school a few days earlier after my last exam but I was in the band for the school show so was in a performance that night. The cast party was that night in the local Chinese restaurant so the teachers bought me a load of drink at the bar to celebrate!

Was in Spain visiting friends, it was the first anniversary of my mum's death so didn't celebrate it at all

Went clubbing the night before my 18th with a group of friends that I knew from school and work. Had a drink with work friends on my actual birthday at lunchtime, then had a family do at the weekend, oh, and it was election day a few days after, so I could go and vote for the first time.

1983 - Birthday was a school night but I was allowed a house party....all youngsters in dining room and parents, grandparents and anyone over 30 in living room....big mistake! all youngsters going nuts, loud music and getting bladdered on Veuve de vernay, best friend ran home for some gin, lots of puking in outside drains, lots of photos taken of me snogging every boy that was there (including bf!)…while it was all sedate and quiet chatting in living room....😆

However it went down as one of the best 18ths ever!
