Parking... P&C if its the only space left? Do you take it?

So just one on of many other threads on parent and child parking, and I was just thinking, would you/can you take a P&C space if its the only space left?

Do you take it?
Should you leave it?

(My dc are older, and I personally dont park in p&c spaces, even if they are the last one in the car park)

Leave it.

CantThinkOfANewUsernameAgain · 10/09/2023 00:18

No

Gillstuck · 10/09/2023 00:19

Take it. What's the alternative?

Fiddlesticks25 · 10/09/2023 00:21

If you are a parent with a child then surely you take it.

Otherwise what's the point?

HaveANiceFuckingDay · 10/09/2023 00:24

Take it

i never have, but given that few children will be out at night, I wish supermarkets would say something along the lines of “p&c until 9pm” so that other people could use them at a time they are usually empty.

Typically supermarkets aren't busy after 9pm though, and there would likely be loads of spaces available in the car park, so what would be the point?

PauliesWalnuts · 10/09/2023 08:38

It’s never happened to me but if it was the last space then yes.

Rockbird · 10/09/2023 08:41

If I had a small child in a car seat then yes. If I had my 15yo with me then no of course not.

Talipesmum · 10/09/2023 08:41

I’d wait for another to become available. Seems like a straightforward alternative.

If I was in a life or death tearing panic I’d probably take it. But definitely not if I was just doing to the supermarket or heading out for lunch, hairdressers or shopping somewhere.

Park somewhere else & walk ?

blahblahblah1654 · 10/09/2023 08:44

No. It's not illegal to do so though. So I wouldn't be crying if someone else did it.

No child.

Just last space left

No, you don't have a child with you, that's the point

Personally no but anything goes on here, unless the op is inconvenienced then it is all gloves are off

Sushione · 10/09/2023 08:57

Yeah I would but I've got a blue badge and the spaces at aldi are closer than the disabled ones.

Sometimeswinning · 10/09/2023 08:58

It’s the last space and people would drive out of the car park on the off chance a parent may need it!!?? I hate to break it to those people but if you drove off and left that space ld just park there!

Fishandchipsatthebeach · 10/09/2023 08:59

Leave it. Unless you are a colossally entitled self-indulgent selfish moron

NotObligedToArgueWithStrangers · 10/09/2023 09:03

I'm on the fence with this one and have pondered it before and can't really decide what I think, so this thread is interesting. I'd never park in a p&c space if there were alternatives, but I'm not sure it would be reasonable to expect me to leave the last space in the car park just in case someone with a child wanted to park. Why does their need to park trump mine? I probably would leave because I'm a stickler for the rules, but I'm not sure it's fair.

AnxiousPangolin · 10/09/2023 09:04

I would if there was nowhere else to park, yes.

fairyfluf · 10/09/2023 09:05

Yes. Though I'm more likely to turn around as the supermarket would be packed.

fairyfluf · 10/09/2023 09:08

Blue badge space or similar- absolutely not. Difference being I don't think needing a p&c space should give you guaranteed access to the shop if its open.

Amitabha · 10/09/2023 09:11

As a 'colossally entitled self-indulgent selfish moron' yes I would park there if it was the only available space to park in.

I do have a blue badge though so this may cloud my judgement.

ginderella85 · 10/09/2023 09:14

We had this problem the other day and I parked in the space, with my ds 13 and my dd 10, then comes over some women having a go as my children are to old to use that space! I was just pulling my sons blue badge out of the glove box, wacked it on show and walked off to help ds out of the car! I don't think I was in the wrong ad DS has a blue badge but will probs get bashed anyway lol

ISeeARedDoorAndIWantToBreakIn · 10/09/2023 09:17

@TicTacNicNak Agreed there will be other spaces, but many humans (including myself) are lazy and would prefer to park as close as possible, especially if it’s raining, cold etc.
