I love lasagne with chips and garlic bread. Pizza and chips. Chip butties, wotsits sandwiches, fried mashed potato sandwiches. Carbs are good! What's your favourite carb or carb combo?

Masala dosa. Ultimate carb deliciousness.

IHateLegDay · 09/09/2023 23:37

I love chicken fried rice, chips, noodles & curry sauce!

coxesorangepippin · 10/09/2023 02:30

Lasagne and jacket spud

porridgeisbae · 10/09/2023 02:35

Do you need to ask? 😀

Apart from treat foods, of course.

I occasionally used to get chips n chow mein from my local takeaway. Enormous portion of chips, enormous portion of plain chow mein, fill plate to edges with both. Extra soy sauce on the noodles, dollop of mayo for the chips, bread and butter for sandwiching. Plenty of noodles and chips left for a second person or second portion. It's the carbiest thing in existence.

Jacket potato with macaroni cheese.
English DH thought I was making this up until he saw it on a menu with his own eyes.

moresleepthanks · 10/09/2023 02:58

Also mac&cheese croquettes are a fantastic USA invention

Emdubz · 10/09/2023 02:59

I’m bloody starving reading this thread. I feel sorry for people who don’t eat carbs. The potato is king 👑

I love baked beans mixed with penne pasta. Glorious comfort food, especially mid winter.

Also can't be crisps in a sandwich. Torn between salt and vinegar in a ham sandwich or ready salted in a ham and cheese.

As kids we also used to have toasted pitta breads with our spaghetti bolognese and tbf spaghetti in a buttered pitta is a thing of heaven.

moresleepthanks · 10/09/2023 03:03

During COVID we bought a large sack of potatoes and cooked them in a different way each week.
Looking back it was a happy memory and seemed in keeping with my Scotch heritage 🤣

ShadyPaws · 10/09/2023 05:00

Pasty barm - buttered soft bread roll with a warm meat and potato pasty and brown sauce

Fizbosshoes · 10/09/2023 08:35

I don't think I've met a carb I didn't like! 😄

BeverleyMacker · 10/09/2023 08:58

Shepherds pie sandwich with butter and gravy 😋

AutisticLegoLover · 10/09/2023 09:58

@INeedAnotherName I used to have dairylea sandwiches with crisps. Prawn cocktail works best but as a child it was skips in particular that I used. Delicious! I'm trying to limit my ultra processed food intake but sometimes you just need a wotsits buttie. Ds loves primula sandwiches so I'll buy some more and some wotsits and introduce him to the glory (and punch a bite).

This thread is a joy to read and has given me some ideas. Dd loves Yorkshire puddings and mash so to the poster who shared about a scoop of mash inside a pudding, thank you.

Butter pie sounds amazing.

I don't understand the carb hate. I used to work with the head dietician for our NHS Trust and carbs were king as they should be 🥰 A personal trainer I worked with always recommended porridge for breakfast as did the dietician. I add a lot of syrup to mine but the oats are very healthy as are the chia seeds I add.

Cornish pasty and chips! But only a pasty from the King of Cornish bakeries, Malcolm Barnecutt's!

Sofasurfer23 · 10/09/2023 10:08

Mac and cheese toastie 🤤

HRTQueen · 10/09/2023 10:08

Chip butty

one of my most most memorable food experiences was a chip butty eaten on Brighton beach, soft white flour dusted bap, a little butter, fresh from the fryer chips, salt and ketchup that was vinegary

roast dinner with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and macaroni cheese it was amazing

BarbaraofSeville · 10/09/2023 10:14

I suppose you could have a fusion roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes, macaroni cheese and rice and peas for the Caribbean contingent.

As a North West girl it has to be butter pie (with chips and gravy!)

For those not in the know a butter pie is essentially buttery potato and onion in a shortcrust pie.

You're nearly right. Butter pie from Booths Grin

When pregnant with DD I went randomly veggie and ate so much of this. With DS, chip butties.

My children are double carb!

Ah, so the carb lovers have declared fruit has no carbs.
Can I lock the carb lovers in with the carb paranoid ?
