If you had a front porch would you sit on it?

It’s so common in America and here I rarely see any houses with front porches.

Would be nice to have a morning coffee and watch the world go by.

How many people sit out at the front of their homes in the UK?
Very few. Most British people prefer the privacy of their back gardens.

I have a bench at the front, for my morning tea as it gets the morning sun, it's a quiet road and we've got a garden and shrubs so it's fairly private. Also for tea while taking a break from gardening, for a glass of wine in the evening sometimes too.

We have a back garden which is private but it doesn't get the sun till later and can get too hot. And I quite like watching the world go by the front.

I used to live in a terrace with no outside space, but when the garage next door was closed at the weekends I'd put a chair out for me in the sun to read on their forecourt - there's a view, it was quite nice. Even had a dinner party out their once in the sun. It's a fairly busy road, and people did look!

Maybe it's that they don't have anywhere to sit out front? I don't, but my friend sits on the front step of his terraced house in the afternoon sun all the time saying hi to neighbours who walk by. When I had a front verandah overseas with a bench I sat out front.

Hell yeah I’d sit there playing my banjo and chewing a piece of corn. Deliverance springs to mind.
