Little kindnesses remembered after decades - thank you craft fayre man!

I was about 12 when I attended a craft fayre with a school friend and no adults. I stood by one stall of polished stones with my friend, and we went through little gifts we had brought for our parents and siblings. I had nothing for my mum, and only about 30p left, and was in despair about finding something nice, when the man behind the stall handed me a green polished stone, and said, "This is free, and I think your mum would like this" - and she did!

I still remember his kindness, 45 years later.

Anyone else?

I was driving out of the super market car park and was behind a car when a parked car to the side suddenly started reversing out of the space quickly and noisily, right in front of my bonnet. I gave a little warning beep of the horn as I had no where to go to get out of the way. The young guy leaped out of his car, with his mate hanging out the window at me, still blocking my car and started threatening and swearing loudly at me. I had my baby in the back. The guy in the car behind me properly jumped out of his car, told off the young lads and made them scurry back into their car and then came up to me and checked I was okay and was so kind.

Also the lady on my last commute home from work via train when I was heavily pregnant. Must have been a match day or something as the platform was heaving. I was near the door but being elbowed about and pushed out of the way in the jostle to get on and she just bellowed at everyone to let me on as I was clearly very pregnant and to have some manners Grin what a total babe.

That’s an amazing story and I loved reading it. The kitten was an unexpected bonus! What a great anniversary gift. Thank you so much for sharing that

One Christmas, in that dead space between Christmas and new year, I decided to walk into town, about a mile away, with ds1 4 and ds2 1 who was in a pram.

I was wandering around Clark's when ds2 turned a funny shade of green 🤢. I decided to make a prompt exit and for whatever reason, the woman in the doorway refused to get out of the way! I kept saying 'excuse me please, can I get passed?' But she just stared and wouldn't move. Ds was heaving now and promptly projectile vomited all over the pram, himself and the lady's trousers. She moved pretty sharpish then Grin

Anyway, I went to the nearest toilets and stripped off ds and mopped up the pram as much as I could but because I'd only popped into town, I hadnt taken any spare clothes etc. I wrapped up poor ds2 in my coat, and I only had a t-shirt on underneath so I was freezing (snow on the ground) I went to the nearest charity shop to get a cheap blanket to tide us over until I got home but realised I'd come out without my purse.

The lovely, lovely lady at the till gave us a wonderful fleecy throw to keep ds toasty and I still have it today (although it's a bit holey now so the dogs snuggle up in it at night
