Cracked heels/hole in foot (gross foot photo included)

Hi,

My foot has been hurting the past couple of days so I figured it was dry and have just been moisturising it. Today it was really hurting so I've given it a nice long soak and inspected it and I've got quite a deep hole in the heel.
What can I do to make it better?
I've attached a gross photo

Thank you

To me the bottom of the heel counts as part of the sole of your foot. Am I missing something?

Is it terrible that I don't think the OP's feet look bad apart from the verrucas 😂 surely dry skin on soles of feet is normal?

That's a lot more than dry skin though - it looks like a fungal infection alongside two rather impressive veruccas.

Either see a podiatrist or remove the dead skin as suggested with a pumice. Either way, hope you get some relief soon.

I think you need to take better care of yourself. If your feet get split and infected, you won’t even be able to walk.

Most people count the bottom of the heel as ...well, the heel. It has a bottom and sides and a back. The sole is more the soft underside from the heel to the toes (arch/met).

OP have you soaked your feet which is why they look that way?

The first photo has been soaked. The other one hasn't.

I've moisturised and filled a little bit today but hasn't shifted much. Will keep at it, hopefully will hear from the podiatrist tomorrow

As others have said OP that hole could be a verruca.
I'd be inclined to book in with a podiatrist to get their opinion and some treatment for the large build up of hard skin.
I also suffer with hard skin build up especially during the summer months as a result of wearing sandals. Twice a week I use a Margaret Dabbs foot file and follow up with a foot moisturiser and this keeps on top of the problems.

You need to be careful, badly cracked, split skin on feet could lead to cellulitis.

charliechaplins · 20/08/2023 22:39

@Motherofmonsters you need to get the dry skin either shaved of or use cream with urea etc. it's manageable!

almostoverthehill · 20/08/2023 23:00

Go to the podiatrist, the will recommend products and advice on maintaining your feet

charliechaplins · 20/08/2023 23:33

Use this oP Urea 42% Foot Cream, Cracked Heel Repair Cream For Feet and Hand, Callus Remover For Dry And Hard Skin, Maximum Strength for Hand, Foot and Body Care, 100g (Original Scent) amzn.eu/d/j6wANYy

What are you using to file your feet?

coolcahuna · 21/08/2023 08:12

My feet were quite bad with hard skin. I got a charge up hard skin remover tool from amazon and along with the urea cream, it's really sorted it out. Also don't wear flip flops any more, wear tevas.
