So, say in a hundred years time. Where do you think might be safest to avoid the worst of the fires, floods, extreme heat etc ?

https://bigthink.com/strange-maps/what-the-world-will-look-like-4degc-warmer/

The map here is interesting.
Although we are not on track to see 4 degrees of warming. But still, it suggests what is probably siberia or somewhere (my geography is bad!) Will be fertile, temperate climate.

This is a good aid

I’d go with NZ, Tas the U.K. looks alright too though

@MichaelAndEagle important bit from the article you posted:

"Those on the fact-based side of this argument should realise that continuously bombarding the opposition with doom and gloom is likely to reinforce their resistance to accepting the new paradigm."

Various research shows the same thing which means the likes of Greta Thunberg are both ineffective and counterproductive.

The UK cities considered best insulated against climate change effects is Glasgow, Edinburgh, Belfast, Preston and Middlesbrough.

86% of the best insulated cities in the world are found in Europe and the Americas (North to South).

95% of the most at risk cities are found in Africa and Asia.

According to Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University, these are the best placed areas to deal with the worst effects of climate change:

  1. New Zealand
  2. Iceland
  3. United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland
  4. Tasmania
  5. Republic of Ireland

No coincidence these are all islands which have well developed infrastructure and are not low lying like the Maldives, for example.

Also very useful

NZ does seem like a good option but I'll stick with the U.K. We don't really have to worry about earthquakes.

I understand that, and actually often say it myself!

I'm actually pretty positive we can avoid the worst impacts and as I posted the map and article myself, I'm well aware of the narrative.

Many, many people aren't aware of that research finding which is why we see it all the time - on the news and even in threads here.

That's why I highlighted it so others can see and understand it. Greta and friends have been counterproductive.

I firmly believe we have to show people a positive vision of the future they can be excited about and engage in.

Although admittedly i probably haven't demonstrated that on this thread. Its easy to feel hopeless.

Sorry, I was snippy with you for no reason. I took it personally, not sure why!
