Eurocamp

Does anyone have experience with Eurocamp holidays?

looking at next year summer holidays

The prices seem really reasonable but I can’t see any package prices on the website that include flights? Do you have to book separately? I’ve also seen some of the sites on Jet2 and they seem to be triple the price than advertised on the Eurocamp website.

Are the sites any good or are they very overcrowded/run-down?

Any advice helpful!

For inspo on which Eurocamp site to book, we’ve got guides to the best Eurocamp sites across Europe, the best Eurocamp sites in France, the best Eurocamp sites in Italy, the best Eurocamp sites in Spain and the best Eurocamp sites in the Netherlands, all packed with recommendations from Mumsnet users who have tried and tested them.

The sites will vary - best to look at reviews for individual locations. Most people drive so that's why they don't sell flights packages I guess

KathieFerrars · 15/08/2023 19:31

Brill holidays. You book your own travel. We always did ferry and driving. Don't expects plush but do recommended booking the linen and towel package as it saves so much washing when you get home. Kids love it. Generally you need to look at pitch size - you want the largest sized pitch poss. Italy and Spain have much smaller pitch sizes than say La Garangoire in France.

sharond101 · 15/08/2023 19:33

Try booking direct with the site or with Canvas holidays. Usually cheaper than Eurocamp for the same site. Need to book your own flights/ferry or drive.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 15/08/2023 19:38

I love Eurocamp holidays and so do my dc. I’ve genuinely never had a bad experience, the caravans are always clean and the staff helpful. If you book at the right time of year you can get some great discounts as well. The only thing is that some of the sites can be massive (the size of a village/small town) so if you like peace and quiet make sure to check the number of pitches.

MissAmbrosia · 15/08/2023 19:39

We've done loads - big and small and always enjoyed it. We mostly drove - but did Union Lido one year by plane. The newer mobile homes tend to be lovely with all mod cons. It's a great holiday for kids.

Whatsthepoint1234 · 15/08/2023 19:41

If overcrowding is a concern, make sure to check Dutch/German school holidays as well as UK ones as Eurocamp has quite a lot of EU customers so when school holidays coincide it can be quite busy. Again this may not be an issue for you but my family is quite antisocial!

We did one earlier in the year and had a great time. We took the ferry and then drove down, although a long journey it was relaxing than flying with young kids I think and the ferrry is part of the holiday. We booked our ferry with eurocamp as part of the booking (when you go to book you get the option to add travel). They get really good discount with Brittany ferries which saved us a.m few hundred pounds than if we'd booked direct

LookingForPurpose · 15/08/2023 19:43

Love love love eurocamp. We go on one every year and it's an excellent way to get a cheap holiday.

WeWereInParis · 15/08/2023 19:45

I worked on a large site one summer in the south of France and only one family the whole summer didn't drive down.

aromaticandfluffy · 15/08/2023 19:47

We would drive for France but I was looking at some Italy sites which would need to be plane

Ah finally found on the website that you can book flights through them as well that are atol protected, but you have to phone up. Anyone had experience of booking travel through them?

I’ve been to a few with my kids, never driven. Always booked flights separately with EasyJet and either taken a bus or hired a cab to take us from the airport to the camp.

Leoislazy · 15/08/2023 20:33

Meant to add we’ve liked each site, but I spend a lot of time looking at the photos and reviews and checking out the local area to make sure it has been suitable depending on their ages at the time.

Sorry to hjiack but can you recommend some please? I wouldn't want to drive as I get travel sick but didn't know where to begin looking for ones that werent too far from an airport etc.

Attictroll · 15/08/2023 20:45

Love love eurocamp...we have done some in france but two we have flown have been the best. In france they own sites internationally they just have a selection of cabins on site.

Advice always get the biggest and best caravan you can afford even if it's not the top end the little extra space is worth it. We live Azure!

EasyJet to Verona for www.eurocamp.co.uk/campsites/italy/lake-garda/camping-del-garda was wonderful and no need to hire a car. Good for under 12's
Also www.eurocamp.co.uk/campsites/spain/costa-dorada/park-playa-bara-campsite for older kids...it's massive and slick

We could book direct but prefer the security of eurocamp and borrowing games and pool stuff.

Attictroll · 15/08/2023 20:47

There call centres are great but choosing your own flights are so easy. We do research looking at individual site reviews.

Packageholiday · 15/08/2023 20:49

@aromaticandfluffy

Euro camp is a little like hoover..
A hoover is actually a vacuum cleaner and a campsite is a campsite that loans out space to euro camp... In my experience it's always better to book direct with the campsite and walking around you see usually euro camp area is more crowded with less greenery.

Leoislazy · 15/08/2023 21:33

International de Calonge and Cala Gogo, actually next to each other on the Platja d’Aro area of costa brava, Spain. I loved these - both to stay completely on site when the kids were younger (access to own beach and plenty of pools etc) and then as they got older I took them walking along the coast line, lots of lovely little beaches to stop at, and then Platja d’Aro itself has lots of restaurants etc. But these two are quite a way from Barcelona so probably not suitable for you. I love the coastline there so much we keep going back (I usually book a transfer with Suntransfer).

One of the French Rousillon parcs but I can’t remember, maybe Le bois de valmarie - fantastic beach, lovely pools and entertainment for younger ones. Girona airport is close but it was tricky for flight times.

The website is pretty easy to research different sites, always lots of photos of each camp and many reviews. There are heaps of parcs much closer to airports if you want a short transfer time. Try the map view and then work from there. I’m looking at some of the Italian Venetian parcs, and the Croatian ones (hopefully) for next year, from memory they are quite close to airports. Also check the sites near Reus airport in Spain, Cambrills etc, they are quite close.

As pp mentioned look for a decent star rating and good onsite facilities depending on your children’s ages. I always try to get a cabin with a verandah.

dameofdilemma · 16/08/2023 14:58

OP to narrow your search I'd suggest first decide on:

Weather - how hot do you want it? South France or Spain in Summer will likely be much hotter than northern France resorts for example. Personally I prefer 20s rather than 30s so go for Vendée in France.

Do you want to be walking distance to a beach? This is important to us as we get cabin fever being on the campsite the whole time and we've found parking variable/sometimes inconvenient. Much prefer being able to nip to the beach for an hour or two etc.

If you're flying then will you hire a car when you're there? If not, look into airport transfers etc to see how easy it is to get there.

Depending on age and interests of your kids think about whether you need mega water slides, lots of sports on offer, kids clubs etc. Sites vary enormously.

Email the chosen campsite and ask for a site map of there isn't one on the website. You don't want to find you're near the DJ/cabaret/karaoke etc that goes on till midnight or the pool that has daily parties etc.

We went to Normandy last August and it was great. The kids loved it - pool and entertainment were fab and we could easily go off site.

We are looking at going next year, preferably to one in Italy, but we want to fly and drive which is proving difficult to find - as in, flights are expensive!
