Despite not living too far away we've not really explores Northumberland so we've booked a cottage for March next year.

I'm after walks, pubs, activities, anything that can't be missed. Just 2 adults. Thank you 😊

If you do go to Tynemouth, try Riley's Fish Shack on King Edward's Bay for fab fish. King Edward's Bay is the pretty beach directly below the ruined Priory on the headland, not the impressively vast stretch of the Long Sands beach.

Wallington Hall
Barter Books in Alnwick
Bamburgh Beach

Also Holy Island, St Mary's Island, Hadrian's Wall.

I love Wooler, Tynemouth and Long Sands, Kielder Water, Hexham Abbey...

Take the little train through ford and etal. Lots of fun, beautiful villages, great cafes, medieval ruins.

All of it but the coast especially Bamburgh, Seahouses, Embleton etc.

I love Alnwick, I spend loads of money that I don't really have in Barter Books every time I go and the town and castle is just lovely!

I love Rothbury (Coquetdale) and the Cragside estate there. Both the village and the estate are well worth a visit. I have a soft spot for Morpeth.

In September I am visiting Hexham and Hadrians Wall Area. I am so looking forward to going, I always feel like I'm in heaven when I'm in Northumberland.

I see that all the usual suspects have already been mentioned (and they are great!) but a brand new attraction which even locals on the thread might not know about is "Ad Gefrin" in Wooler. It's a distillery/cafe/restaurant/museum about the Anglo-Saxon palace there. Worth a visit, it has an excellent audiovisual presentation.
