Weekend away ALL alone - have you ever done it?

DH has a hobby for which he takes a week and 2-3 weekends away over the summer. I don't have a hobby as such, or not one that I can legitimately go away for a weekend to do.

So I was thinking of taking a weekend away, in the UK, just to go and have some time just me - reading, sleeping, eating etc.

Has anyone else done this? If so where did you go/what did you do while there and was it amazing?

Mum of 4 and every few months they go to grandparents for a long weekend and off I go Edinburgh,London, infact been so many places some far away some only an hour from home and thoroughly enjoyed every single one. Being able to watch tv, lie in, read, walk whatever recharges me. Sometimes I visit places and sometimes I chill. Travelodge is good pricing unless you want more pampering places

I've done it a few times! Sometimes just take a bottle of wine and some bubble bath and have a relaxing weekend or a wander about. I run so sometimes I'll look for a race slightly further than my usual local runs and book that. Still take the wine and bubble bath too!

Do it!

This has been so inspirational thank you!

I've never been to a uk hotel on my own. I like towns/cities with bookshops and preferably sea views. Where would be good?

I plan nice activities and good food for myself. For example, I like cycling and will base my time away around a scenic cycle I want to do. It's a joy...I follow my own itinerary entirely regarding breaks, snacks, cafe stops, photo opportunities and pace. By the time I make it back to the tent I'm well tired out so a solo dinner while pouring a glass of red and getting my book out with no disruptions or demands is bliss. I sleep like a log.

It doesn't have to be cycling or a tent, it can be whatever you want to indulge.
I have a demanding full time job and three kids. I'd go as far as to say that as much as I love my kids and our family holidays, these outings are the quiet highlight of my summer.

You're all giving me good inspiration (and the motivation just to say fuck it and do it)

Go! Enjoy.

I hope you do! I find it so energising. I've been very fortunate to have 2 lovely holidays this year with my family but work is hard and I need the quiet of my own time. Usually I go on my own completely happily but this year my best friend can make it but we are almost identical in the things we like to do so I'm really looking forward to it.
