I've moved 14 times. Moved out of home at 18 so counting that as first, then moving around as a student, into shared housing, bedsits, in with boyfriends... I'm likely to move again.

How many times have you moved?

18

Wednesdaysotherchild · 26/07/2023 21:23

26, mostly before age 18!

Spanielsarepainless · 26/07/2023 21:24

Seventeen, since I left home to go to university. That doesn't include several periods of moving back to my family home before the real move. I'm sixty.

At aged 55 I'm in my 5th house.

Pinkitydrinkity · 26/07/2023 21:26

About to move for the 14th time in my life!

That does include 3x flats in uni though, not sure if they count really.

Never as a child, twice as an adult. Only just moved here too so will be a good 10 years before I consider another.

Feel like I’m missing out though? Why are you all moving so much? Are these mortgaged properties?

8 if you include moving from my only childhood home and don't include student flats.

DH and I bought our first home (a one bed flat) when we were in our early twenties as we were extremely fortunate to get help from the bank of (my) mum and dad.

We've bought and sold several times since and paid off our mortgage fifteen years ago. We downsized 5 years ago but hope to upsize (slightly) again next year.

I'm 56.

Wildandwonderful · 26/07/2023 21:44

30 in five different countries. Hopefully this is my last!

DelilahBucket · 26/07/2023 21:45

11 times in my whole life, 9 times since I left home at 16, including sofa surfing twice while I had nowhere else to go. Fortunately the last two homes have been long term and I'm not planning on moving again any time soon.

Similar. Trouble is I find I get itchy feet within a few years.

GroutScrubberExtraordinaire · 27/07/2023 14:24

As a child: 6
As an adult: 8

B72 · 27/07/2023 15:50

So many times that I've lost count.
My parents were in the armed forces, so we moved constantly when I was growing up, both home and internationally.
Then I joined the armed forces and moved around a lot, before marrying my husband who is also in the armed forces and continuing to move around both home and internationally.
I finally stopped moving around five years ago, although my husband still lives and works abroad.

BucketofTeaMassiveCake · 27/07/2023 16:00

Nine times if I count from leaving home as a 20 year old.

BrieAndChilli · 27/07/2023 16:06

as a child I moved 7 times not including boarding school
Since leaving home I have moved 15 times not including 6 months of back packing.

AuntieMarys · 27/07/2023 16:24

One more to do

Sartre · 27/07/2023 16:35

4 as an adult and I only really remember 3 houses as a child but I know we lived in a few before I turned 3 due to Mum’s unstable financial situation at the time. So 7 that I recall, probably closer to 10.

Mysteriousgirl2 · 27/07/2023 16:37

Never as a child, but 12 times as an adult. I’m 36.

JorisBonson · 27/07/2023 16:39

About 32 times. Army brat with permanently itchy feet!

Tdcp · 27/07/2023 16:39

29 total. 7 from birth - 13

ohdamnitjanet · 30/11/2023 08:29

About 20.

Haydug · 30/11/2023 08:32

Just the once - out of my childhood home which I was born into, into my first property that I own with my husband! We are now mortgage-free after 8 years. We hope to upsize in the next few years as our family is growing. So hopefully I'll have moved twice!

blackfluffycat · 30/11/2023 08:41

My sister who is 4 years younger has lived in the same house all her life. I've lived in 7 (moved 8 times back home once). Although I'm autistic and it wasn't by choice.

blackfluffycat · 30/11/2023 08:43

DH is military but non of the moves were for his job. Dread to think how many it would have been.

dottypencilcase · 30/11/2023 08:45

I'm 40 and moved 29 times (including uni accommodation and renting before buying our own place). I never want to move again.

mightymam · 30/11/2023 08:46

My Amazon address history reads like the electoral register!

Terfosaurus · 30/11/2023 08:47

4 times.
