Can I share my child's amazing new skill with you all?

I will start by saying that my three year old doesn't meet any developmental milestones, he can't sit unaided, can't walk, talk or even roll over but today, when I put him on the his mat on the floor for a bit of wiggle time he managed to work his way off and move himself about 2m across the floor! I have no idea how he did it as I had left the room to make a cup of tea and came back to find him not where I had left him. I have no-one at home to share this wonderous achievement with but would love to share it with someone.

This is the side of Mumsnet we need more of! Well done to your DS @CopperSeahorses

Gloaminggnome · 24/07/2023 23:12

That's wonderful, well done little Seahorse!

These little moments of progress are so precious when parenting a disabled child - I have a 3 year too, with a very profound delay and it can be so hard but also so joyful! (And well done you for persevering with all the physio!)

How fabulous!

Aren't children sneaky little creatures though, always wait until your back is turned just for a second to cause mischief Grin

I hope there will be much more mischief to come!

That is fantastic! I used to work with adults with learning disabilities, and key worked a man with profound disabilities. He had no speech, and used a wheelchair. I worked with him for over a year trying to teach him to get his cup and give it to a member of staff, who would immediately make him a cup of tea. The day he took his cup to my colleague for the first time, I cried. I was so proud of him, so I can just imagine how you must feel! That is an amazing achievement. I'm smiling for you!
