Legoland tickets

Hi, has anyone upgraded their day tickets to annual passes? Not the Merlin ones, just the Legoland ones. How much did it cost please?

Have you been before?

Because I wouldn't be buying annual tickets to legoland, we went last weekend and it was pants.

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 13:05

Why was it pants? We are huge Lego fans and really looking forward to it.

Not been before, no.

Crowded, tired, wasp haven.

Annual pass if you are local and can go for half days, inset days would be worth it.

Namechanger099181919 · 23/07/2023 13:09

We loved it when we went 2 years ago, it’s busy obviously in the holidays.
there are lots of Legoland Windsor Facebook pages… I’d have a look there for advice ☺️

Why was it pants? We are huge Lego fans and really looking forward to it.

Crowded, badly signposted, hour long queues for a 2 minute ride, crying frustrated children, expensive food and drinks, lazy staff, 5 rides in 5 hours and we even split up to try to do more.

I expect waiting and queuing at a theme park but this was another level. Unless you can afford to pay for the fast pass things don't bother imo.

The kids assure me they had a nice time which is what matters but I would not go back. Complete waste of a day.

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 13:21

Those queues sound reasonable to me after queueing 3 hours at Alton towers.

OP posts:
Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 23/07/2023 13:25

Also, the amount of weird adults there on their own queuing to go on rides for small children was just........ Really odd.

If you think waiting for an hour with your 7 year old on their birthday for a ride that they shortened from 4 minutes to 2 because the line behind you had got bigger leaving your 7 year old dissapointed and in tears is reasonable then knock yourself out. I don't agree.

ForTheSnarkWasABoojumYouSee · 23/07/2023 13:31

I haven't been to Legoland for ages, but my advice as a queue-hating, non-fast-pass-buying Lego-lover would be that can definitely be worth while if you love Lego, because there's a lot to appreciate as well as the rides with long queues, but you have to research the hell out of it in advance and work out the best strategy and/or buy fast passes.

CheersToMe · 23/07/2023 13:39

As always the advice is don't go
Bank holiday weekends
UK School holidays
Local INSET days

Go on a spring or autumn weekday and have a fab time.

The staff work long shifts for minimum wage and deal with some truly entitled visitors day in day out. So please cut them some slack.

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 13:42

We've been watching the channel 5 documentary about Legoland and are really excited to go and already have tickets so my question was about upgrading those tickets to annual passes rather than whether or not we should go at all. We live far away and are travelling via London so staying in Windsor overnight then seeing some more of London on the way back.

If you're close enough to use them out of holiday time then it's definitely worth it.
We had annual passes (and Blue Peter badges for the children which made it even more worthwhile!) and used to go during term time before they were at school, after school, and out-or-season weekends.
Sometimes we almost felt lonely!

The best thing about that was you didn't feel short-changed when it was busy. When it was busy we did the rides like the swings/carousel etc that take a lot of people on board so the queues weren't too bad. And then we'd look round Miniland, watch the shows, go on the playpark etc.
Then when it wasn't busy we'd go on the more popular rides. We discovered our limit going round and round on the Dragon was about 6 rides. Didn't even get off between rides.

For busy times we'd choose one ride we really wanted to go on. Normally the Dragon or the submarine. Rush down to that as the gates opened, then work our way backwards, slowly doing what we wanted which wasn't too badly queued.

We didn't go in August at all normally unless it was heavy rain. That clears the park pretty well. 😁

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 14:38

Thank you, that's really helpful. I'll check out the Facebook group.

We live the other end of the country to Legoland and when our eldest was pre-school we got an annual pass as we have family living nearby. We love Legoland! I can find my way round without the map easily now. If you can go on a grey day in the school term time like we used to, the queues were so small we could stay on some rides without getting off between goes. We take a pack lunch and eat it watching pirate show. We love the 4D cinema and the Star Wars walk through. We’re going in summer hols this year just for.m the one day so I have got the q-bots (or whatever they’re called now). That makes it very expensive but it might be the last time we go as the kids are much older now.

I have merlin passes. I know you're not talking about merlin passes just legoland but thought it was worth commenting on why I do.

I don't live near to any theme parks - it's an hour and 20 to the nearest

I pay monthly and that covers us for entry whenever we like. The cost of paying monthly worked out to as if we had visited twice on day tickets or something or possibly 3 times in a year.

Now we go when we want, and if it's a bad day with being really overcrowded or weather turns or rides we want closed - it doesn't bother us. We can leave after an hour and do something else that day

I would download the legoland app and pay attention to the queue times over a few days to get an idea

I enjoy Legoland myself! The model parts are very clever and we've just played find the landmark amongst them not even bothering with ride's before now

Merlin obv you can do this then with any of them plus get free parking and a discount on food/gift shop and I save money by having them despite the expense when it's worked out over a year

If you have anyone with any disability- you'll have to apply but be entitled to a free carer pass and say if you have a child on the spectrum, you'd go free as carer - I believe this is for individual parks as well and also can get ride access passes that cut queues- I'm the disabled person so obv my child can't be my carer but bc I have it - he doesn't queue much (you may not have, just worth saying!)

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 15:33

I've applied for an access pass and am hoping that will be granted so that the queueing experience isn't too bad in terms of sensory overload.

Your username made me wonder - if you are diagnosed with a letter from GP or any pip evidence - you could get a pass, free carer pass that partner uses... ride access pass that will be given an allocation for how many in your party so you go on rides same time together. Merlin parks Ive thought are particularly good for accommodating families with anyone who has a disability

ConnieLinggusThe69th · 23/07/2023 15:38

If you don't get annual tickets merlin or purely legoland

You can still get the carer day ticket for free- you just have to apply or turn up with your medical evidence

ConnieLinggusThe69th · 23/07/2023 15:44

Sorry see you're wondering on price on upgrading

No idea for individual parks passes - I pay monthly £15 for both of us (£30) for entire merlin passes so probably cheaper than that. Think it says on website for individual and not sure you can pay monthly if it's just one park annual pass - might be available though!

User1437957 · 23/07/2023 16:03

We went this year and it was the best time we had in a long while. Kids had a blast. We did go on a weekday so there were hardly any queues. I found it very well maintained. If we lived close enough I would definitely buy the annual pass.

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 23/07/2023 16:57

If you live far away why on earth would you buy an annual pass?

ConnieLinggusThe69th · 23/07/2023 17:00

Mommasgotabrandnewbag · 23/07/2023 16:57

Becomes the cheaper option than day tickets if you go multiple times in a year

Like Disneyland- loads buy annual passes purely for one holiday bc it's cheaper than tickets each day

AutisticLegoLover · 23/07/2023 17:12

@Mommasgotabrandnewbag because train tickets down aren't too bad really and we get to see London too due to the route we need to travel and we are Lego obsessed so it's a grand day out for ds and me. If I can upgrade for a reasonable price then it's less to save up for each time.

Legoland is fab but I'd only go during term time and during the week
Avoid school holidays
Weekends
Bank holidays and inset days

I take my two every year on a Tuesday and Wednesday during term time and we love it.
Monday and Fridays are the busier days during term time in the week
