Not much yet. I have learnt to be less cautious about what people think about me.
I worry less about embarrassing myself. I feel more confident about my knowledge and opinion.
I a bit less likely to go rock climbing, or paragliding as I have dodgy knees.

Walking when it's icy. I had a nasty fall a few years ago and since then I'm very cautious. I'm in my fifties, but fell on my shoulder and the pain was awful and lasted quite a long time.

AlyssumandHelianthus · 22/07/2023 23:37

Trampolining

Excitingnewusername · 22/07/2023 23:38

Walking on icy, or slippy from rain pavements. Have been since a slipped disc in my early 30s (not caused by slipping or falling). I live somewhere seemingly entirely made of steep hills with old worn smooth stone pavements so winter is fun.

I also take off my slippers to go up and down stairs in the past few years (early 40s now).

Biting into crusty bread or anything sticky. I just can't face another front crown snapping!

Falling for me- I've been able to trip up over nothing my entire life! Always had skinned knees/palms as a kid but used to bounce back up. Now I'm in my 50's have broken a bone in my foot which still gives me grief - it's healed now but the it's the same ankle I sprained countless times - always swelling up and around a year ago knackered the Achilles tendon just walking down stairs at home. I also hate how I am classed as 'having a fall' these days- I'm 22 in my head but sadly not in my body!

Imnotdrinkingmerlot · 22/07/2023 23:44

Things that might hurt - skiing, heights, cycling etc. Only mid 40s but already feel much more cautious sadly

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 22/07/2023 23:44

Unlocked doors as well. I now always lock external doors when I'm in the house.

JackyinaTracky · 22/07/2023 23:49

Everything 😬

Bluelightbaby · 22/07/2023 23:51

Im pretty risk averse now. Still horse ride and ski but only plod along.
Barely drink any more as can’t handle it

PickYourPrince · 22/07/2023 23:55

Also stairs!

I’m so glad it’s not just me. I used to skip and jump down the stairs but these days I like to clutch a bannister.

ASGIRC · 23/07/2023 00:00

Fair rides.
I used to be SUCH a thrill seeker! Now Im scared of rides... Not to the point where I dont go on them at all, I just have white hot panic when I go on them the first time! Subsequent times in the same visit is fine! LOL

I also stopped doing any high impact sports, like skiing, tennis and dancing ever since I dislocated my knee cap during a dance class, which has since dislocated twice more, once due to a muscle spasm, and another time by GETTING UP FOR THE TOILET! So I figure if it can dislocate doing basically nothing, theres zero way Im gonna do anything that might dislocate it.

GenialHarryGr0ut · 23/07/2023 00:02

Spending money - ironically I have more disposable that I've ever had before but I have become far more cautious and careful about spending it

Careerdilemma · 23/07/2023 00:07

Since becoming a parent I'm much more cautious and conscious of my own mortality as the thought of leaving my child without me terrifies me. I have stopped horse riding and some other high risk sports.

The news and anything politicians say.

Flying! I'll still do it but I'm absolutely not as keen as I was as a younger person

orangeyeahthatsright · 23/07/2023 00:11

Cracking nut shells with my teeth.

stripeymonster · 23/07/2023 00:21

Coughing - thanks to my dodgy pelvic floor. It was fine until I had an awful cough in January, now it seems really unreliable.

TheChosenTwo · 23/07/2023 00:23

Omg I was listening to some friends the other day and they were talking about things that I was mentally crossing out in my head for various reasons:
flying: I find it terrifying although I do it
scuba diving: no way, don’t like face in water and scared of sharks
ice skating: petrified of falling over and damaging my back (which is already precarious to be fair!)
camping: would be worried about not having access to a proper toilet at all times (I have no genuine reason to be worrying about this!)
Theme parks: worried about getting stuck upside down

i could list at least 10 more and none of them including the above would really have phased me 10 years ago. I’ve never liked flying but it’s got worse. When did I turn into an over cautious worry wart who doesn’t engage in fun things because I’m scared? I’m 38!!!

HappilyContentTheseDays · 23/07/2023 00:24

Germs.

Lavenderandbrown · 23/07/2023 00:42

Teeth. I had adult orthodontia so careful what I bite into but still cracked a crown in half a month ago
Falling. turn on light and hold hand rail everywhere including my own home
Parking. paying attention to where I park….maybe taking pic if u familiar
Im not frail or easily confused but Im cautious on these

bellabelly · 23/07/2023 00:44

Getting out of the bath, am scared of slipping and breaking a leg. I'm only 50!
