Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've just had breakfast & am now in my kitchen spot drinking tea from my fancy tea set. The window's open & it's silent apart from the odd birdsong & the fridge humming away. No-one else is up yet but I can hear dd2 moving about upstairs. Don't think she'll be up for a while yet though. Bliss 😊 This is my favourite part of the week.

I think today will be a very steady one - I had my 10th chemo yesterday, then went for lunch with dd1, and then got talked into meeting some colleagues for end of term drinks. I was only staying out a couple of hours...rolled in at 11pm 🙈 I haven't laughed so much in a loooong time. Surprisingly, I'm feeling quite chipper this morning!

We're meant to be heading into town for birthday presents but I might see if the girls want to go another day instead. Dd2 will probably appreciate a lazy day.

If we don't go to town, I'm going to finish painting another set of props for work - Hansel and Gretel this time. The figures are done, I just need to finish the house. I'm chuffed to bits with my tiny crochet witch hat, and the mini broom I've made.

The girls will probably mooch about doing not much 🤷‍♀️ I'll get them to help me write a shopping list at some point - I really need to do a shop this week.

No idea what's for tea yet, something easy from the freezer. And then an early one for me I think after a bit of crochet

What about all of you? 🙂

Good Morning (nearly lunchtime) hope your chemo isn't too brutal @lucysmam have you got many sessions to go?
@MeinKraft so sorry for your loss -I lost my DM at the start of summer holidays a few years ago and it was very hard. Do whatever you need to get through TV is fine and friends round for them if you can face it occasionally then they are happy and you just chuck food out for them.
It's wet here too and cold! We had a long day yesterday, went to Manchester to see Six and do some shopping but it was a late one home so the DD's are chilling.
DH has gone out to do some work and I am planning a food shop. Cats are snuggled in bed sensible creatures.
DD 16 wants to watch some Tour De France or footy. DD 13 will probably minecraft in her PJ's.
I think an easy day food wise maybe pizza later or I might make a curry.

I had a lie in this morning which was definitely needed as I tried to stay up to watch the USA match last night (I only managed the first half).

I'm now watching the England v Haiti match.

My family are scattering my uncle's ashes today. I couldn't make it because DH is working and I would have had to stay away overnight which we can't afford at the moment as we're away next weekend for our friends' wedding.

lucysmam · 22/07/2023 12:07

@ilovebagpuss 8 sessions to go - I'm on the countdown even though it hasn't been too bad!

Morning @lucysmam and all!

Great to hear you are feeling so good lucysmam

lovely day so far here, just pottering around this morning putting laundry away etc.

This afternoon I'm heading into town with one of my teens as they need some new clothes and we'll probably get a hot chocolate somewhere and shelter from the deluge of rain!

Early evening we are having a pizza and film evening, we are having pizza chips, crisps and dip, sweets etc and a family film. The DC love doing things like this in the school holidays and it's great for a rainy cosy day like today. Well get picnic mats out on the floor and eat while watching TV.

Have a lovely Saturday all!

Been up snowdon, hot shower and now a fry up and this afternoon is a sofa/Netflix kinda day

SydneyCarton · 22/07/2023 12:30

At DD1s tutor’s house while she finishes her session. DS is playing football and DD2 is doing Kumon with her cousins. DD1 has a bit of a cough so after tuition we’ll walk back into town and get some cough syrup from the chemist before DP picks us up.

Weather looks dire for the rest of the day and two of the DC aren’t feeling great so I think we’ll have a lazy day.

Good morning. Your weekend sounds lovely @lucysmam.

My lovely mum died last week and I don't really feel fit to do much. I may go and visit my family or might just hang about home. Maybe I need a lovely book to distract me but I can't seem to engage with anything. I feel guilty that the kids are spending their summer holidays watching telly basically...maybe in a week or two I'll be able to take them to fun places again.

So sorry about your Mum 🌻

afternoon @lucysmam and all

@MeinKraft sorry for your loss 💐

I’m still in my dressing gown! We all had a lie in as we had DS2’s leavers disco last night - was a very fun night and that’s me done with school runs - hurrah!

We had bacon, eggs, hash browns and beans when we got up. DP walked the dog before the rain started and has headed off to cricket but I imagine he’ll be back shortly as it is tipping it down!

DS2 is upstairs on his oculus and DS1 is about to be dropped home after his sleepover last night.

We were meant to be going to town to get a card for the boy’s dad for his birthday tomorrow but not in this weather!

The boys are off to their dads later so DP and I are going out for a curry - i bloody love a good curry! ----

I need it to dry up in Manchester so the Ashes comes on and I can stay here on my sofa and watch it!

Zippedydodah · 22/07/2023 14:02

Good afternoon @lucysmam and followers, ‘tis piddling down here on the edge of the Cotswolds, cold too (12°!) so I have lit the wood burner - I never imagined I’d do that in late July!
DH took the dog for a walk, they came back soaked but both asleep now so very peaceful here. I’m watching the TdeF, mainly for the scenery I have to admit, I honestly don’t know how the cyclists keep going.
Pork escalopes with home grown veg in a bit, then a quiet afternoon as it’s too wet to do much else.I did do a bit of watercolour painting this morning but I really need to focus my efforts more.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 22/07/2023 14:18

I'll change my response as my back has turned out to be worse than I thought so DD is being taken to the party by her Aunty, I'm spending all day and night lying on the floor with a heat patch and chocolate 🤣
@MeinKraft sorry about your mum

Hedjwitch · 22/07/2023 16:38

Rain has held off here so went to yoga in the park which was great fun. Its so much better doing it outside.
Baked a job lot of shortbread biscuits and picked some herbs for drying. Off to friends house later for sleepover and gin.

Took DD to dancing this morning and then to the library where we sat and read for quite a while. Then she requested the “pancake place” (Wetherspoons) for lunch so dropped her off with DH so they could walk down and splash in puddles while I drove. We got back a couple of hours ago and have played a bunch of board games and read some library books so now DD is curled up with the iPad and I am trying to find ANY comfortable position to sit or lie in- am 36 weeks pregnant and if my back is comfy, my hips hurt, and if my hips are comfy my legs are twitchy so I just can’t get totally comfy at all!

Cant be bothered to cook so fish fingers for tea tonight I think and a bath for DD and I’ll catch up on Love Island when DD is in bed.
