Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I've just had breakfast & am now in my kitchen spot drinking tea from my fancy tea set. The window's open & it's silent apart from the odd birdsong & the fridge humming away. No-one else is up yet but I can hear dd2 moving about upstairs. Don't think she'll be up for a while yet though. Bliss 😊 This is my favourite part of the week.

I think today will be a very steady one - I had my 10th chemo yesterday, then went for lunch with dd1, and then got talked into meeting some colleagues for end of term drinks. I was only staying out a couple of hours...rolled in at 11pm 🙈 I haven't laughed so much in a loooong time. Surprisingly, I'm feeling quite chipper this morning!

We're meant to be heading into town for birthday presents but I might see if the girls want to go another day instead. Dd2 will probably appreciate a lazy day.

If we don't go to town, I'm going to finish painting another set of props for work - Hansel and Gretel this time. The figures are done, I just need to finish the house. I'm chuffed to bits with my tiny crochet witch hat, and the mini broom I've made.

The girls will probably mooch about doing not much 🤷‍♀️ I'll get them to help me write a shopping list at some point - I really need to do a shop this week.

No idea what's for tea yet, something easy from the freezer. And then an early one for me I think after a bit of crochet

What about all of you? 🙂

In bed with coffee and cat. Not raining here yet but forecast. Yoga in the park this afternoon then going to stay overnight with a friend for a girls night in. Might sort out the laundry pile. Might just leave it for another day...

lucysmam · 22/07/2023 09:33

@MeinKraft I'm so sorry to read about your mum 💐 I agree with the pp who says use the telly if you need to, it'll give you some headspace.

I've decided we're not off to town...it's tipping it down now. I can hear the drops on the burning bin, quite rhythmic & soothing actually. We'll go another day, in the week, not sure which yet though - I only have two free days. They could meet me after my CT on Thursday maybe though 🤔

Been up since 5. And would love to crawl back into bed, but I have 6 kids including a 6 month big bruiser of a a baby who constantly breastfeeds

Currently having a large bowl of krave and watching YouTube kids on the telly.

I have a huge plan of deep cleaning, including pulling out the cooker and giving it a good scrub with my teen and tween, polish and mopping the whole house and hoovering too, organising kids wardrobes and drawers.

Then, I have the asda being delivered late afternoon , so we will be having good fellas pizza and garlic bread. And also ordered loads of goodies like Cadbury twirls, minstrels, m&ms, smarties and icecream for our end of school year Summer party.
We do it for the kids, every end of year, who got a good grade/end of year report and they all did brilliant.

We are also hoping to move by the end of the year, so will also be looking at houses online whenever I sit down to feed the chunky hunk.

Have a great day, everyone.

We're all glued to screens at the moment after a nice lie-in. Once DH and I have a second coffee on board, we'll get everyone moving and do a bit of tidying. We're going to see Barbenheimer this afternoon; well, DH and I are seeing Oppenheimer while my sister minds the kids, then all five of us are watching Barbie. I'm really looking forward to it. Then we'll get a takeaway or something to have in my sister's house.

Tomorrow I have to strim half an acre of long grass in my raincoat - it's due to rain all day but we need to get the house on the market and the garden is a disaster. Hopefully DH will have something nice and warming in the oven for afterwards.

NooNaNa · 22/07/2023 09:47

On the sofa with my littlest. Listening to the rain and enjoying a coffee and a cuddle.

Will motivate myself at some point to do an hour or two of chores.

DD has a birthday party later so I'll enjoy chatting to my friends.

DH is living his best life (doing what he wants as if he doesn't have a family). So I'm parenting more or less solo this weekend (this is the norm).

Lazy morning, after having an additional teenager over yesterday.

Have another football buddy over today, it costs loads in food!

Drinking coffee, going to shortly watch lionesses. Then hoover the house.

Living the dream eh!

EarringsandLipstick · 22/07/2023 10:15

On holidays, we've had beautiful weather all week (West Cork), today is miserable, driving rain but not complaining!

DS (14) & I heading for mountain run, then I have to organise assorted siblings & in-laws with competing agendas, hopefully before any meltdowns happen!

All good as .... holidays & away from the grind.

I'm very glad to have a normal update to contribute to this thread as normally my Saturdays are so hectic & crazy that it feels pointless to post!

(Secretly I don't mind if it keeps raining & allows the chance of movies for DC & reading for me!)

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/07/2023 10:17

Today I have 2 deliveries coming. One a set of shoe shelves I desperately need to tidy up kitchen. The other a lava lamp and toy hammock for DD1 (8). She has decided she wants to move all of her bedroom around and wants me to play Minecraft with her so that'll come today. I might get some playing done on RDR2 too if I get time.

DD2 (4 months) has kept me up most of the night so I'm exhausted. Promised we would make rice crispy cakes today with cheap chocolate I bought yesterday so there's that. DH is at his dad's working on a car to get it roadworthy so he can drive it (old 1970's Beetle).

Currently still in bed and had a coffee. DD2 asleep on me as only place she'll fall asleep at the moment.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 22/07/2023 10:17

Oh and hope chemo going ok. Can't imagine how that must be.

Tacocatgoatcheesepizza · 22/07/2023 10:28

Still in bed 😯Should be at the kids tennis lesson right now but it got cancelled due to rain. It’s a miserable day and I just can’t be bothered to get out of bed. DS has golf in a bit which is still going ahead but dh is taking him to that.

I’m watching Barbie later with some friends which I am so excited for! No other plans apart from washing and cleaning. Its all a bit of a washout.

Justonedayatatime11 · 22/07/2023 10:31

Kittens have had me up since twenty past 4. Been on the sofa now for 2 weeks and am beyond exhausted. Going to pop out this morning for some vital snacks and spend most the day horizontal, hopefully snoozing. DD has gone to her dads, DH going out this afternoon and then we're meant to go out for dinner tonight. If I'm awake. Hope you're doing ok @lucysmam, I do love these threads

Squirrel28 · 22/07/2023 10:33

Having lunch in a bit with friend who lives abroad and is back for a visit, then dog walk later with different friend.

Currently watching football and feeling extremely old compared to both the teams!

Plicovic · 22/07/2023 10:40

Still in bed with tea and my book watching the rain on the trees out of my loft space. Going to run 10 miles or so in the woods later, just trying to galvanise myself to get out there, not tempting in the grey but will be fine once out. Had builders here for 2 months and lovely though they are, it's complete bliss being in silence at the weekend.

OP, hope the chemo goes well 🙏💕

Bbq1 · 22/07/2023 10:47

Morning all. Just back from getting my eyebrows waxed and tinted . I slept in so raced down there and as a result, just having my first cuppa of the day now! Dh asleep as he worked last night, ds still asleep because he's 17! Lovely and peaceful downstairs. Unfortunately it's absolutely pouring down here and it looks like rain for the next few days. Getting my hair done this afternoon then lots of packing to do as we are going to LA on Tuesday, we are beyond excited! Staying in a hotel in Sunset Boulevard. We are pulling out all the stops as we haven't been abroad for 17 years plus it was my 50th this year and ds is 18 soon. I
haven't decided on tea yet but I'll pick something up pre or post haircut..ir maybe we'll send out.

tobee · 22/07/2023 10:47

Sitting watching the football. Cricket resumes in 15 minutes; what to do?

Got home (delayed flight) from France last night. Trying to work out why our hot water isn't working properly, or our shower pump, or the dishwasher.

So waiting for British Gas engineer, who might come any time today, in my nightie, as can't shower, on the sofa, with a blanket over me.

Everyone else is asleep.

Maddy70 · 22/07/2023 10:51

Hmmm jot sure. I will be meetings friend so will probably have lunch with her there are free midnight concerts in my town so will probably go to that tonight

caringcarer · 22/07/2023 10:55

We've had to pack up for a cricket picnic but it's raining and looks like childs match will be called off.

caringcarer · 22/07/2023 11:05

DS's cricket match now officially called off so now a whole day gained back I suppose I'll have to do some jobs around the house. I'd far rather be watching DS play cricket.

cactusjane · 22/07/2023 11:11

Morning everyone. The weather is grim here all day so it'll be a chilled one which is very much needed after a chaotic final week of term. Our baby has a cold and slept terribly so dh got up with her and let me have a lie in. We had bacon butties and now I'm on my second coffee and baby is asleep again.

Will get a lovely long bath soon and then might pop to the shops later for some weekend treats and to return a dress.

Lots of chilling, a takeaway, maybe a glass of wine and hopefully a shag tonight 😂😂😂

Anapana · 22/07/2023 11:13

MeinKraft · 22/07/2023 08:56

Good morning. Your weekend sounds lovely @lucysmam.

My lovely mum died last week and I don't really feel fit to do much. I may go and visit my family or might just hang about home. Maybe I need a lovely book to distract me but I can't seem to engage with anything. I feel guilty that the kids are spending their summer holidays watching telly basically...maybe in a week or two I'll be able to take them to fun places again.

Really sorry for your loss x

Peridot1 · 22/07/2023 11:23

Good morning @lucysmam - love these threads! Sounds like you had a good day yesterday!

@MeinKraft - I am sorry for your loss. As others said just look after yourself. The DCs won’t be harmed by too much tv. Don’t feel guilty.

We had friends over for dinner last night so this morning I’ve been slowly pottering around getting the kitchen tidied and dishes done etc. Also doing washing and vacuuming. Not planning on doing much else today! Not raining here yet but it’s due so an afternoon on the sofa with my book is on the cards. Chicken Kiev with chips and peas for dinner later with some of the chocolate cake and ice cream left over from last night afterwards. And wine. Always wine.

DH is doing stuff in the office. DS is chilling. We have a poorly dog who is lying around whining on and off.

Eggsley · 22/07/2023 11:26

Morning all!

@lucysmam hope you are feeling ok after your chemo? Flowers

@MeinKraft I'm so sorry for the loss of your lovely mum. Take things easy if you can, the kids will be fine with the tv on Flowers

DH and DS2 are at football training at the moment and I'm selling the teas and coffees at the football club. It's absolutely pouring down so it's not very busy! Thankfully I am in the nice warm kitchen.

After football we've got to go and get some bits for DS1 who is off to cadet camp tomorrow for 2 weeks. He needs to pack all his stuff this afternoon, then I've got to drop him off at 06.30am tomorrow.

I'd like to get some jobs done around the house this afternoon too. Not sure what's for dinner yet. We might watch a film this evening.

lucysmam · 22/07/2023 11:40

@Eggsley I am, thank you! I'm surprised every week tbh - I expected it to be much tougher than it has been so far.

I've finally got the washer going. Will have a sarny then wash up too, and maybe a tidy round in the living room. I meant to do it in the week but never bothered & the mirror's annoying me 🤷‍♀️

Dropped dd at her dance class at 8.30 then went food shopping came home put the shopping away then called at Gregg’s for a coffee and sausage roll on the way to pick dd up.Was hoping to take the dog for a walk but chucking it down here so going to just potter about at home til I have to drop dd at work.Dh is working away so have the house to myself from 5 til 10.30 when I pick dd up so going to have a lasagne for tea and catch up on some tv and maybe do some family tree research.
