What did you do with your engagement / wedding rings after divorce

Mine weren't particularly expensive. Just wondering what to do with them as definitely don't want to keep. Are they worth selling? What did you do with yours?

Use the metals and stone to be reset, remodelled for another piece of jewellery.

I sold mine to one of those cash for gold places for £45 and took me and the kids out to Pizza Hut

I remodelled by wedding band and set it with a stone. I sometimes wear the engagement ring on my right hand. You don't get much for modern jewellery if you sell it. Unless you're Liz Taylor!

When I hired a skip to throw away 20 years of memories I threw the ring in there too.

I could have got something for it but that felt far better.

Sold them to a pain shop the day after he had attacked me and smashed my phone. The money bought me a new phone. I sold his ring too

I did think about remodelling as it's a nice diamond, but I think I would always associate it my ex.

Wish I’d sold mine straight away! Lost my wedding band, dropped from a purse. Must go get a price for my engagement ring.

My wedding ring disappeared during my divorce. Abusive ex was very angry about splitting up 😐
I would have kept it and passed it on to my dd. It was a really nice one 😢

Sold them to a cash for diamonds place and used the money to go on a solo city break to Berlin!

I lost my wedding ring en route to the pawn shop.

Had the engagement ring remodelled into another ring, along with some other old jewellery.

Sold it at a pawn shop and used the money to buy myself a new ring at Tiffany's. Nothing fancy but shopping there was quite the experience!

I had my wedding rings made into earrings but I can’t wear them & they’ve sat in my jewellery box for well over 25 years. I’m remarried so maybe I should sell them for gold value. Could give it to charity maybe so a tiny bit of good came from it. I’d forgotten about them until this thread!

I think the wedding ring was thrown down a drain, by me, some years ago Blush. For some reason I still have the engagement ring in a jewellery box. I'd been wondering what to do with it. I thought about giving it to my daughter at some point, but it feels unlucky if that doesn't sound extremely irrational. I might sell it after reading this thread.

I like the idea of buying a new ring, not sure I can afford Tiffany's though😬

Do you have children? I only ask as our mam was married twice, my sister got the rings from her dads wedding and I got the rings off my dads… now that she’s not here anymore and passed away young.. they mean even more to me even if they did divorce 20 years ago. Xx

Still have mine after 10 years. Also have my grandmother’s (well one of 3 she had 😂😂). Never really known what to do with them. Was going to keep them for the kids - I’ve 2 girls. No idea how much they’re worth now to be honest. Don’t think they were especially expensive.

May I ask how much remodelling cost? Mine has five diamonds in it showing off. And I’ve got three daughters and a son, so I was kind of thinking of getting three pendants, and a pair of earings made for my son to give to his future wife. I got a quote about 10 years ago, when it was over a grand which seem bonkers, considering I was supplying the diamonds and frankly plently of the gold too
