What was it you wanted to tell a loved one before remembering they aren’t here any more?

It’s been an emotional day one way or another. I had a funny thought which I wanted to tell a friend (and mumsnetter) in a moment before remembering I can’t. Then a wave of grief hit me again. So, I’m telling you instead. It won’t mean anything but here goes:
’Her husband looks like Shrek after he was turned into a human.’
Please don’t start with ‘that sounds mean.’ It really isn’t and more importantly my friend would have laughed her head off.

I would like DD to be able to tell DH about her induction day at Secondary school, her wonderful SATs results, her residential, her friends, her favourite teacher, everything. DH was only alive for the first couple of months of her school career. As for DS and I…I could go on all night.

Missed beyond measure, loved for all time.

💔💐 I'm so sorry x

One of my best friends died suddenly a couple of years ago. He was my tech go-to, insanely smart and had the quickest sense of humour. I can't tell you the number of times I've thought about messaging him about anything and everything, he'd have been mortified about how many folk turned up for his funeral to say Nice Things.

I still whatsapped him for ages and it was heartbreaking not to get those who blue ticks. The messages stopped going through a while ago, I guess his number has been archived now.

My mum was a tailor. My dd just had prom and while I'm not bad on a sewing machine i didn't fancy attempting to hem a fancy dress. My daughter and I both said that we'd thought to ask mum to do it.

The beautiful poem "Suprised By Joy" was written about Wordsworth's little daughter, not his wife. She died when she was three.

These are beautiful and remind me of how I felt about my friend. That I had something on my mind the one person in the world I wanted to share this with is no longer here.

Thank you @LaDeeDa123 for starting this thread. Reading it was both sad & lovely. And I had a precious (as rare) dream about my Partner, JS, last night.
I believe that's more than my brain processing I think it's us 'meeting again'. Thank you x

Thank you @stayathomer. Partner was the only person in the world who would have understood what it took Ds (& me!) to get to this stage (& the fact he'll refuse to go his own graduation, oof!)

I often want to tell my dad about my job. We worked in a similar area, and he'd have loved the gossipy, political shenanigans that happen daily, that no-one ever wants to really hear about!
