I’ve got another 2hrs of train journey returning home from an overnight works trip away last night. I’m tired from meetings and travel today and I’m bothered that I didn’t have longer to myself. I’m noticing how much I enjoyed doing my own thing so many hundreds of miles away from home.

I’m thinking I need to do this away from home thing at least 2 times per month from now on.

And that I am really still very sad. Not depressed just sad.

What you doing and what’s on your mind.

In bed with book and cup of tea. Fk all else to do in this weather

mondaytosunday · 14/07/2023 20:39

Well you are hopefully home now enjoying some dinner! I'm at my 19 almost 20 year olds house, just had dinner and he's out back having a smoke. He's hard work - though he can be lovely he's just an angry young man a lot of the time!
I'm here to collect my dogs that he's had last few days while I've been away looking at a university with my daughter. He lives in a seaside town but of course it's rained pretty much non stop since I got here!
So no TV so just on my phone then a bit of chat and we'll be in bed by 10pm (he gets up at 6 for the gym before work).

Packing for a 12 day work trip. Reading work notes for the trip.

Shopped earlier. Later having dinner with DH. Rather stressed about the trip ao might watch a silly movie later to take my mind off it.

Where are you off to? 12 days will soon pass 💕

I'm currently sitting at a petrol station waiting for the RAC. Accidentally put petrol in my diesel car. I have been waiting since 5.30 and RAC says they should be here by 11.30. Anyone want to swap?

Staring out the window at the torrential rain and strong winds and feeling a bit depressed

Chatting to a funny guy I've matched with on Tinder! He seems great, but wondering if we'll actually go on a date! I haven't been on a date for about six years! Can't muster the courage!

Hellokittymania · 14/07/2023 20:49

I’m in Greece, my shutter in the bedroom broke last Sunday, so I have been waiting around all day for someone to come and fix it, after that, I went out to get a coffee. It is so hot here, and there is no AC at home so I’ve just had a very easy day, until this evening when it’s less hot and I can do what I need to do. I will put on one of my new audiobooks later on, someone on here recommended some travel themed audiobooks. It is supposed to be a very very hot weekend, so I will stay in and read.

YoSof · 14/07/2023 20:49

I’ve just had a bath.

It’s been a shit week at work, and I’ve had a cold so it’s felt more of a slog than normal. I submitted an assignment this evening, my children are both on sleepovers so it’s just me and the cat.

Going to watch love island before working a 10 hour shift tomorrow. I’m looking forward to a relaxing Sunday!

It been a really shit time recently with someone very close being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and stress from an abusive ex that keeps popping back up. Haven’t even started to process everything that happened and I’ve had a couple of days feeling sad about it all.

I’ll pull myself out of it soon enough I’m sure. I hope you all have lovely evenings/weekends!

Imamumgetmeoutofhere · 14/07/2023 20:50

Sat here with 8 year old DD watching tv before she goes to bed. Didn't see her awake this morning as I left early having just done an 11 hour shift in a health care role, did food shopping on way home.

Looking forward to the weekend and no work. Got to catch up on all the housework, washing etc though

Confusedabout · 14/07/2023 20:51

I've got police interceptors on the TV and a glass of wine after a very stressful week. Looking forward to going to bed soon !

Cece92 · 14/07/2023 20:52

Me and my DD have had a Chinese, and cosy in our pj's now it's pissing it down here. Waiting on goggle box coming on and she's got her AirPods in watching young sheldon on her iPad. :)

ManchesterLu · 14/07/2023 20:54

Just sitting and chilling in front of the TV. It doesn't happen all that often as we're usually busy, so we're making the most of it!

IVFlife · 14/07/2023 20:55

Been working from home today, then been for an eye test. Was going to David Lloyd this eve but have had migrainey type symptoms all day on and off so decided not to and am on the sofa instead.

(and before the "you can't be on a screen if you have migraines" police come along, I have tingling and head pulled to one side feeling without actual pain or visual symptoms atm and a neurologist diagnosed me as having migraines due to hormones)

Sitting snuggled on the sofa with a nice glass of red with my littlest and the cat while the rain beats of the living room patio doors. He's refused to go to contact with his dad as he hasn't been well for about 2-3 weeks. I'm very worried about him and have fallen down the dr google rabbit home of symptoms and leukaemia keeps popping up....

I work in a health care role and if a parent made contact with us concerned about those concerns / symptoms we would 100% see them the same day. Please call your GP on Monday morning and ask for a same day urgent appointment

blahblahx · 14/07/2023 21:09

I'm in bed after what feels like has been the longest week of my life

louderthan · 14/07/2023 21:17

Watching the recap of the tennis. Boo Djokovic! Vamos Carlos!!

EarringsandLipstick · 14/07/2023 21:18

I'm packing for holidays. I am the world's worst, slowest packer (at the home-side of the trip, highly efficient at the return end).

I've had a long day at work, so I'm tired, and I'm alternating each task with a few surreptitious glances at MN.

I've a long (for me) drive tomorrow so I should be focused & getting to bed soon.

Kids have been very helpful & packed own stuff, beach items, sports stuff. So it's just me, being slow while simultaneously thinking of loads of house jobs that I now think are essential.

troppibambini6 · 14/07/2023 21:18

On the sofa trying to watch casino with the dog. Youngest has started his nightly crying. He's 8 and has given up on sleep. It's slowing killing me and dh.

cockerhooping · 14/07/2023 21:25

@Imamumgetmeoutofhere

Thank you for your reply. I genuinely appreciate it.

He has been out of sorts for about 3 weeks. He's seen the GP twice and second time we were referred to ED and he was seen by the paeds reg who was very thorough.

All investigations at that point were normal but the last week he is just a shadow of himself. Other close friends have commented on it.

I've kept a symptom diary since the attendance at ED and I will weigh him on Wednesday morning and compare to ED weight.

Sadly with the basic checks being NAD it is harder to get the symptoms taken seriously. But ALL doesn't show on standard blood work early doors.

NoTeaNoShade · 14/07/2023 21:35

Sorry OP, that sounds rough 💐

Just back from a party, had a great time. DH snoozing on the couch. Heading to bed soon.

toochesterdraws · 14/07/2023 21:42

We have arrived home from a few days away visiting family, and are now unpacking whilst recovering from the living nightmare of the traffic jam caused by the bridge repairs on the A1 south of its junction with the M62. Ye Gods. It took us about three hours to go about three miles.

I know someone whose DC had symptoms that suggested leukaemia. Turned out to be a new dairy allergy triggered by a virus. Worth cutting out dairy from his diet for a week or two to see if he improves. Oat milk and alpro yoghurts instead.
