Hope this little lad is found safe and well.

The search for a missing two-year-old is “at the same point” as it was yesterday, the local prosecutor has said in an update as helicopters spent Tuesday broadcasting a recording of his mother’s voice.
Two-year-old Emile was last seen playing in the garden of a property in Le Vernet in the Alpes-de-Haute department of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, with his grandparents notifying the police of his disappearance at around 5.15pm local time on Saturday.
Airborne search teams were instructed to play the recording “as loud as possible” in the hopes of finding the toddler.
However, the investigation still has “no information”, with the prosecutor urging the public to “give the gendarmes time” as investigators probe the 1,200 calls received on the dedicated case line.
“We have no clue, no information, no element that can help us understand this disappearance. We are at the same point than yesterday at the same time”, Rémy Avon, public prosecutor for Digne-les-Bains, told a press conference on Tuesday evening.
“The 30 buildings that make up the Haut-Vernet building were completely visited. 25 people were heard, 12 vehicles visited, 12 hectares raked”, Mr Avon added.

I have been thinking of little Emile today, I can’t imagine how frantically worried his family must be. I would have thought it likely he’d be found by now if he’d just wandered off, seems sinister to me.

The search operations for two-year-old Emile are expected to end today, Rémy Avon, told Agence France-Presse, as he announced a new direction for the investigation

They think it's the family or someone close I reckon.

purpleros · 12/07/2023 14:39

he was in the care of grandparents wasn't he?

MissCherryCakeyBun · 12/07/2023 14:41

Terrible 😞

Given the current weather I think if he has wandered off it's not going to end well.

Did we learn nothing from Nicola Bulley? Lets not start speculating about family members involvement unless there is reason to. They may be in France but there is no reason to assume that they wouldn't hear about nasty insinuations being made. They will be distressed enough right now without people throwing out wild allegations with no basis in fact.

There's always a reason to. All too often it's the immediate family found to have done something in similar cases.

The police will already be looking closely at them anyway, it's hardly like I've said something unheard of or unthinkable.

Peanutbutteryday · 12/07/2023 16:59

Surprised it’s not getting more news coverage but I assume because it’s not in the U.K.

ShirleyPhallus · 12/07/2023 17:05

It’s absolutely awful, his poor parents must be beside themselves

Soubriquet · 12/07/2023 17:28

They have found blood unfortunately

LakeTiticaca · 12/07/2023 17:38

How awful. Can't imagine what his parents are going through xx

Lapland123 · 12/07/2023 17:39

Poor baby 😞😞😞

Superdupes · 12/07/2023 17:42

Oh bless him. So maybe he got accidentally knocked down and then whoever hit him hid the body. If that's the case, awful as it is, as a parent I'd rather know than spend the rest of my life wondering if he was out there somewhere and what happened to him.

Same. It’s heartbreaking losing a child, but at least you can properly mourn with a body

As it stands, you don’t know anything and your mind would be giving you so many scary options

I've seen this suggestion before but don't get it, why would you spend time finding a hiding place, concealing a body, driving away risking being seen when you could just keep on driving

If it's a busy road someone will see you doing that, if it's a quiet road don't hang around, no one's seen you

If there's cctv you're seen either way

I have my fingers crossed for the poor big but it's been a long time for a positive outcome

Soubriquet · 12/07/2023 17:53

I guess we shall see

Zarataralara · 12/07/2023 17:55

The original news report I read said two adults saw him leave the property but he disappeared from their view. I can’t imagine why they didn’t go after him, a tiny lad on his own.

he parents of a two-year-old boy who has been missing in France for almost four days have been attacked by a former Family and Children’s Minister who claimed Émile’s father had “a very worrying profile”.

Ségolène Royal, herself a mother-of-four, spoke out as fears grew that the little boy has been killed or kidnapped.
Émile went missing from his grandparents’ house in the Alpine hamlet of Le Haut Veren on Saturday, while his parents apparently remained 200 miles away at their own home in Marseille.
The entire family has remained anonymous throughout, but Ms Royal – who has held numerous ministerial roles and was runner-up in France’s 2007 presidential election – said they might be responsible for the crisis.

Claiming that Émile’s mother was not even spoken to by detectives for three days, Ms Royal tweeted: “The mother questioned only on Tuesday? And the father, with a very worrying profile?

I wonder what 'a very worrying profile' means? I also read that there are 25 people that live there permanently yet the police are checking on 'all' know child offenders in the area?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 12/07/2023 18:13

Royal has a pretty worrying profile herself, tbh. Foot in mouth with serious regularity.

PickledMuffin · 12/07/2023 18:57

I really hope they find him. Like someone mentioned earlier, 2 people saw him walking alone. Can't imagine what his family are going through right now.

No. The police may explore such avenues because it is a possibility. We don't need to start speculating and casting aspersions on people without any evidence at all. Just because you think something doesn't mean you have to say it. Enough time to start throwing stones (if that's waht floats your boat) when there is cause - saying you think it's a family member without anything other than "you reckon" is awful for all the family members. As Nicola Bulley's family have pointed out. And as I said in my comments which you managed to edit to exclude. Just because something isn't unthinkable doesn't mean it is true, likely, or ought to be said.

9 times out of 10 it will be family
or Close friend.
