Anything involving DP. It always turns into a massive odyssey to find the perfect something or other. Lots of pulling out of tape measures, head scratching and comparing features of different makes/models/variations of said item. I DON'T CARE how many decibels a fridge is. I really don't.

Echobelly · 12/07/2023 22:24

Tiles with my husband. Or lights. I'd enjoy shopping for them myself, but DH wants to be involved and have input but then is always 'meh' about every single option when it comes to those things and I end up having to really force things to a decision.

DogbertMcDogglesworth · 12/07/2023 22:24

Anything to do with the home.
I just give the husband a rough description and send him online to look.

Jeans. Can never find a pair that fit perfectly, are the style or colour I want and don't cost the earth.

'Going out' sandals - a combination of the right height heel so they look flattering but I can still dance in them, comfortable enough to walk home in, straps that don't dig in or rub and they have to go with more than one outfit to get my moneys worth out of them.

Appliances like washing machines, fridge freezers etc. - so many different features to consider and will I use them all? Will I regret not having a certain feature or the next model up?

Christmas presents when you don't know what to get - the endless browsing between shops looking for inspiration.

Clevs · 12/07/2023 22:29

Oh, and paint. Trying to choose the right shade from all the fancy names. And my husband won't buy testers so I have to make a decision in the shop based on the tiny square on the tin which is never how it looks like when it's on the wall.

Beautifulsunflowers · 13/07/2023 07:05

Birthday cards - ones for the special people in your life - they either gave a silly picture on it have silly flouncy poems/words inside.

appliances - anything from a kettle to a fridge - they all do the same job but there’s so much choice!

Also hate buying petrol as pp have said and the food shop is sooooo boring each week! And expensive!

Oh yes!! I hate buying cards for my Dm & DF whether that's birthday, Father's Day or Mother's Day cards. The majority of the cards on sale are really soppy or really jokey and we aren't that sort of family.

GritGoes4th · 13/07/2023 07:33

Trousers/jeans. They have a much higher fail-rate in the dressing room than tops, shoes, bras or bikinis.

Sofas and mattresses - is it comfy? Really? Was my six minute trial enough to tell? Will I still think that's true in six months?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 13/07/2023 07:40

Clothes. I don't care what they look like on a beautiful, 5'9" size 4-wearing-a-10 model who has also been photoshopped and is squatting or arching her impossibly long and elegant spine like a 200 year old Yew Tree on a cliff edge facing the prevailing wind, I need to know that it won't make me look like Smeagol wearing Gandalf's mum's frock at the Fellowship's 300th Anniversary getogether. And knee length is not an equivalence for 'barely covers your gusset'. But it answers why the model is folded in half for the photo - it's knee length if your knees are level with your hip joint and your arse is level with your 3rd lumbar vertebra.

Shoes. 'Wide' is not a size.

I hate all shopping, but things to wear has to be the worst.

Soubriquet · 13/07/2023 07:42

Clothes. I’m very particular about what sort of stuff I like to wear and I also need to do it cheaper…so it can take me ages to find something I like in the right price range.

Kids clothes however…it’s much easier

bluedomino · 13/07/2023 07:58

I watched my child having teeth scanned for a retainer recently and wondered why this technology can't be used for jeans. I would pay to be scanned and a couple of weeks later have a pair of jeans that fitted my, admittedly unusual, shape. It would surely be more cost effective than making dozens of pairs that fit nobody well. Buying jeans is soul destroying and takes weeks to find a decent pair. Same with bras. And shoes.
Surely computer aided design can pattern design this. Please🙏.

Phones, handbags, purses, cars

Yes, cards for my MIL. I like the woman but she’s not the best Mum in the world, she’s not particularly wonderful and she does bugger all for us (which is fine) which does limit the choice.

Blueberrycreampie · 15/07/2023 11:54

Anything home related eg electrical goods furniture soft furnishings. Hate it!

BarelyLiterate · 15/07/2023 12:12

Glasses.

I’m going through this particular hell at the moment. Getting an eye test is fine. The problems start immediately afterwards when the hard sell begins. I actually walked out of a branch of Vision Express because the sales person was so pushy about expensive varifocals which I don’t want. High street opticians offer no price transparency, and seem incredibly reluctant to give written price quotes so customers can do sensible price comparisons. It’s infuriating. 🤬

I begrudge paying for school swimming lessons as I think they should be free. I think this is because my primary school had a pool. We swam a lot. I don't feel like my dc is actually making any progress with the school swimming sessions either
