For me there are a few who I've loved in just about everything they've done since the 70s/80s/90s and still do. Some of mine:

Kevin Costner ❤️
Tom Hanks
Cate Blanchett
Kevin Bacon
Meryl Street
Harrison Ford

Billy Bob Thornton. He's actually pretty old now but then I am no spring chicken either. I've always thought he was hot af.

Jodie Foster.Saw Candleshoe on TV when I was off sick from school late 70s or early 80s and instantly loved her and have done ever since.

Yes! I can still remember as a child how fascinated I was watching her in that film and I've loved her work since. Introduced DC to Silence Of The Lambs when it was on telly a couple of nights ago and they were blown away by her too. Just an extraordinary actor.

Anthony Hopkins. Just the absolute master of quiet, subtle acting (ok apart from Lecter obvs, that was an aberration!)
I loved him since being a 13 year old watching International Velvet. Slightly crappy film but he's wonderful.

MaitreKarlsson · 16/01/2024 01:12

Wait, I forgot Liam Neeson! Spotted him (ahem decades ago) in The Bounty in his first acting role, loved him...then he was amazing as a priest in Lamb....just got better and better. At uni watching Schindler's List, the 'I could have done more' speech set off another cacophony of audience sobbing in what was an emotional experience....
Although I do find his present old action man persona quite bewildering, he's still watchable. Just when I'd given up hope I saw The Grey. Amazing!!

JaneJeffer · 16/01/2024 01:19

John Cusack. Why are his films never shown on the telly? Angry

Tezza1 · 16/01/2024 01:20

Cary Grant. Others come and go, but he's always Cary Grant.

Agree Steve Martin has been making me howl with laughter for decades.
Bill Paterson and Juliet Stevenson since Truly Madly Deeply.
I've adored Paul Bettany since A Knight's Tale in about 2000. He just hasn't met me yet.

Have you seen Paul Bettany in A Very British Scandal on BBC iplayer (available now)?
Just fantastic!

CleopatrasBeautifulNose · 30/08/2024 17:19

Kathy Burke... Ever since her incredible part in Mr Wroe's Virgins, serious historical drama about a cult rigid leader based on true story.
She was amazing, but she's fantastic in everything she does.

Yes! Yum. (Despite the fact that he was playing an utter shit 😄).

JaneJeffer · 30/08/2024 17:38

I was just going to say John Cusack and then I scrolled back Grin

I always wonder how people revive old threads?
