The sound of a tent zip in the dark

And you?

The little snuffling noise my puppy makes when he snuggles up to me is my favourite noise at the moment. Like a little piglet snuffling for truffles as he buries his head in my neck, followed by a little sigh. Heaven.

YoSof · 09/07/2023 22:52

My childrens laughter, my sons singing and my daughters silly American accent she puts on to make me laugh.

The kettle bubbling for my first coffee of the day.

Waves on a beach

Rain on the window, especially when I’m cosy in bed.

The noises my dog makes when he’s asleep and my kitten purring.

The water feature in my mums garden and the bees buzzing on the lavender bushes.

Children in the school playground at lunchtime.

Glasses clinking as they’re being collected or put away in a cosy pub.

WithIcePlease · 09/07/2023 22:53

A bit off tone but also the front door closing...
And knowing I've got the house to myself all day - bliss

ReginaPerrin · 09/07/2023 22:54

As others have said, the sound of the key in the door when your newly-adult child gets home from a night out.

The sound of my dog’s footsteps on the hard floors when they’re excited, and their little sigh of contentment when they flop down next to me!

louderthan · 09/07/2023 23:05

Rain on the skylight
DPony grazing
Wine glugging into a glass at the end of a long week
The Archers theme tune
A cat purring

louderthan · 09/07/2023 23:08

The 'pop' of tennis balls at Wimbledon

nocoolnamesleft · 09/07/2023 23:13

When a baby who has been born blue and floppy and not breathing recovers enough to let loose their first cry. Absolute magic.

A tent zip in the dark sounds absolutely terrifying!!

This made me laugh too much! 🤣😎

MyMachineAndMe · 09/07/2023 23:16

Petrol lawnmowers

Dh's deep voice

AlfietheSchnauzer · 09/07/2023 23:17

A Hedgehog farting

LateMumma · 09/07/2023 23:21

The sound of crickets on holiday. The doorbell when it's someone you're excited to see. A river over pebbles on a hot day. My DD giggling

AlimonyHelp · 09/07/2023 23:21

The front door closing when my ds gets home at night and I know he's safe.

Aqua22a · 09/07/2023 23:23

Cat purrs

Trains in the distance, especially at night

Rain

Thunder heralding the end of a heatwave

Forgot to mention birdsong, especially blackbird song.

Church bells. My local church around half a mile away practices in the evening mid week most of the year, and on a warm summer evening especially it's lovely to sit in the garden and hear them chiming away, especially if the wind direction is right.

eandz13 · 09/07/2023 23:28

High heels on marble/hard flooring

AlfietheSchnauzer · 09/07/2023 23:28

Also birdsong in spring

squashyhat · 09/07/2023 23:30

Distant thunder.

The local church bell ringers practice on a Friday evening wafting on the breeze.

My bedroom fan on a hot night.

squashyhat · 09/07/2023 23:31

And a cuckoo. Only heard one this year and it wasn't in the UK Sad

BriceNobeslovesMurielHeslop · 09/07/2023 23:33

A blackbird warbling away
A wood-pigeon coo-cooing when you’re cosy in bed waking up- the cosiest noise to me as it reminds me of being very little
The noise of my old neighbourhood in South London on a Sunday afternoon- music and talking and traffic- just teeming with life

HarrietSchulenberg · 09/07/2023 23:35

Tent flapping in the breeze when you go to sleep on first night of camping.
Rain belting on the windows at home when you've got nothing to do and no reason to go out. Bonus point if it's the weekend and you're still in bed.
Sheep and lambs from a faraway field with no other noise between.

theresalwaysguineapigcurry · 09/07/2023 23:46

The noise of the wand on a coffee machine frothing milk
The sound of children in a garden playing in a paddling pool
The weird slightly French accented voice in fair grounds which says 'hold on tight for the next ride!' When it's about to start
The announcements on the airplane in both languages which remind you that you're going properly abroad.

Rinkydinkydoodle · 09/07/2023 23:53

When the birds wake up about 3am in the summer and start doing their thing. I have insomnia, and sleeplessness is way more lonely without birdsong in the winter. Also love the greeting sound my little girl cat makes when she comes running upstairs to go to sleep first thing in the morning - ‘brrrrrmal?’

LordSalem · 09/07/2023 23:56

My daughters heartbeat/laughter/singing.
Yep I’m one of those precious mums Grin

LuckyPeonies · 10/07/2023 00:23

Can’t do just one! 😁

Cat purrs
Dog snores
Bird song
Horses snorting
Waterfall sounds
Ocean waves
Walking on crunchy leaves in autumn
The sound of the rain during a summer shower

Catsmere · 10/07/2023 00:33

Cats purring or snoring.
Proper quiet (complete absence of other humans' noises).
Magpies carolling or kookaburras laughing.
