DD16 has a mountain of clothes she wants to try to sell, but I know nothing about Vinted. Any experienced sellers willing to share their wisdom? Thank you. 😊

Iron them

photograph labels as well as the item

expect offers of a £1

dont use RoyalMail as you have to wait weeks for your money if the buyer doesn’t mark the item as received.

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:15

Get the price you want to sell it for, add on a few quid.
bump it if a) it’s a weekend or b) you’re selling for a lot.
buy sons poly bags- the postage kind. They make it quicker
choose the form of postage that suits you - no point driving miles to a UPS

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:16

Some * poly bags. Not your sons 😐

i try to post stuff same day too.

AGREE about ironing. Jesus the photos on there.

I’ve also worked out if I put my (manicured bright polish) nails in a pic it sells faster. Weird eh?

Singasongaday · 07/07/2023 07:16

Good clear photos and lots of. I use a mannequin or dummy to show clothes to best effect. Post quickly and make sure you have good packaging. Inpost are shocking with anything fragile. They also lose a few items every now and then, however are good at refunding them.

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:18

Your daughter could make loads. I bloody love it. I’ve made £700

Zogthebiggestdragon · 07/07/2023 07:23

Make sure the brand is really clear- I search vinted on the brand and size so they need to be perfect. Yy a picture of the size label is essential. I like sellers who reply once you've bought just to say thanks, it'll be dispatched soon etc - it's good to have that acknowledgement.

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 07/07/2023 07:29

Post asap as this is expected. 5 days max
be honest about condition of clothes. Don’t list as “very good” when they are stained and worn.
give discounts on bundles.
always list higher than you would be happy with as someone might offer a lower price. Chose postage options wisely (eg don’t chose Evri if it’s 8 miles from your house etc).

AppleCinnamonBagel · 07/07/2023 07:35

As everyone has said. Clear photos, iron everything, good descriptions, state if it's from a smoke free home, be prompt to despatch.

Be prepared for people to make offers and ask for clothes to be made into a bundle (basically they choose a few of your items and give one price for the lot they've chosen)

Its a good way to sell clothes. Good luck!

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 07/07/2023 07:40

Also state if it’s a pet free home. I can’t buy things from a home with cats due to my kids allergy.

NeverThatSerious · 07/07/2023 07:44

definitely take photos of labels and be very, very honest about any flaws and take photos of those too. Price slightly above what you actually want/what the clothes are worth to anticipate offers. I’ve found that modelling the clothes for photos has got them sold the quickest and for the best price, I tend to set up my phone and take a video of me posing like a twat against a plain wall then take screenshots from the video, cropping out my head 🤣

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:48

Interesting about the smoke free home thing, I thought that was a bit old hat on eBay and so on. Would always wash anything anyway.

Meeting · 07/07/2023 07:48

Take good photos, of her wearing them if possible.

Be honest about condition, I can't stress this enough.

ElFupacabra · 07/07/2023 07:48

Some great suggestions from PPs. Only thing to add is be aware if you have Royal Mail postage options, you pay postage upfront. But if the price is lower on Vinted than you pay at the post office you end up out of pocket. This has happened a few times so I removed Royal Mail from my postage options.

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:50

Try taking a photo like this of the label, honestly, it makes such a difference LOL

Theos · 07/07/2023 07:50

Oh I find pics of people in it a bit ew

LookingForFreeDoughnuts · 07/07/2023 07:52

These are great tips, thank you!

I've only bought on there but I want to see:

Ironed and clean clothes

Honest listing's - it's not new without tags if you've worn it a few times

Clear label picture as the sizing groups on vinted don't always correspond to the retailers

Photos taken in daylight, not blurry and colours are true

I don't want to see someone modelling it personally

Good communication, acknowledge the sale. If someone makes an unacceptable offer either decline or send a counter offer, don't give a shirty reply

Bundle discounts

Post it ASAP

As a Vinted buyer:

Please state the measurements, eg waist & inside leg for trousers.
State the fabric type eg 100% cotton, 80% wool / 20% acrylic etc.
Take good photos of it in, ironed and in natural clear light.. Full length, close ups, brand, size & care labels.
Be fully honest about condition.

Most people don't include measurements on Vinted. I never do and sold loads.

“Most people don't include measurements on Vinted. I never do and sold loads.”

It’s the bane of my life on Vinted (ok, bit of exageration)… I’m a short arse and most trousers/ long skirts aren’t going to fit me. I also don’t like messaging people asking questions, so lack of measurements does put in a big friction and puts me off buying stuff that I otherwise would.

Theos · 07/07/2023 08:13

Agree, I never do measurements. I started the whole thread about this on here quite recently.

Handsnotwands · 07/07/2023 08:16

Remember that the buyer pays an additional % so don’t aim too high with your price. By the time the fees and postage are added for the buyer it can make it a less attractive proposition.

Oh really? I’ve never considered that. What kind of addition goes on?

Fluffyowl00 · 07/07/2023 08:30

I don’t usually buy things for less than £8 (this is about £13 after fees etc as often it doesn’t fit/ suit) I would price low, refuse offers and only take a few photos to save time. See if anyone friends/family/work has got any used bags as that will make it a lot cheaper. Sell it quickly. There’s so much out there if you over price your 200 items in within a week and no one can be bothered to trawl that far back.

reduce it by £1 after a week.

It depends if she cares about the items or just wants to get rid

violetcuriosity · 07/07/2023 08:47

My selling page is very uniform. Nice hanger on a plain background, every photo is the same. Take a close up of the label and size. Take a close up of the material/detailing. Be realistic but ambitious with your pricing, put it up for what you want for it, not what others are selling their items for. Be prepared to wait, everything does eventually sell. Good luck!
