DD16 has a mountain of clothes she wants to try to sell, but I know nothing about Vinted. Any experienced sellers willing to share their wisdom? Thank you. 😊

As a buyer on Vinted, this is what I look for:

  1. Item displayed very clearly. On a mannequin/dress form is best, carefully hung on a hanger against a plain background/carefully laid out on a plain surface is ok too.

  2. Multiple pictures: front and back of garment, label (brand & size), close up of material, close up of any details, close up of any imperfections. Best to be high resolution photos, taken in good natural lighting.

  3. Reasonably priced - remember that the buyer also has to pay for delivery & a buyer fee. If you list an H&M top for £10, for example, it can become > £15 for the buyer, at which point it becomes uncompetitive with purchasing a brand new H&M top.

  4. Prompt responses from seller, particularly letting me know when the item will be / has been sent.

I always say I'll consider all sensible offers. I usually sell an item within a few hours 😊

Oh really? I’ve never considered that. What kind of addition goes on?

I bought something for £1.00 this week. Buyer protection was £0.75, postage £2.89 total buying price £4.64. I think sellers forget that something that is 'only' £X can several times that to the buyer.

I don’t take offers on the first day of listing and I apologise and say so, if they really want it it usually goes.

Price it low
lots of pics (inc size and care labels)

I’ve sold loads on there in the past few months (150+ items). Even quite scruffy stuff of DCs’ (I describe honestly). Better than landfiill!

Spend a few days reading through the Vinted forums. I did, and the same problems keep coming up over and over again, 99% of which would’ve been avoidable if the person had prepared more. It’s mainly stuff like using the wrong postage labels, or making sure you’ve got any couriers switched off if they’re not near you etc. Cannot believe the number of people who look like they haven’t done any basic reading about it before selling.

Get Poly bags - ebay.
Evri is good for postage as can often print label in store when dropping off.
Don’t model the clothes - puts people off esp if new.
If selling white stuff and slightly grey make it clear.
Any marks make it clear…
Shoes - if there is a foot indent they aren’t new or new without tags (personal gripe)
List slightly higher than you want as will get offers.
Don’t discount too heavily for bundles.. people buy them and resell individually.

However if aim is to get rid of lots of stuff like in my DD case as she wants more £ to buy rubbish in Primark then price low 🤣

Also once you sell a certain amount they do an identity check. I think it’s around £750.

I think I have made about £1200 now since starting in Jan…. probably spent most of it back on Vinted tho 🤣

When is best day / time to list? My sales have fallen off a cliff

xsquared · 07/07/2023 17:58

This is an interesting approach.

I don't know why anyone would want to buy an item they haven't seen, but she seems to get a lot of interest and has a high number of feedback scores.
