I love Glee. Always have. I’ve just binged watched it again in a week with dh grumbling about it. He doesn’t think I should watch it anymore because of Mark Salling. I don’t see it like that. I can enjoy the character of Noah, without liking the person itself.

I mean…yeah he fucked up but he’s dead now. Can’t really do much about that

What about watching Tarantino's toe sucking fetish in every film 🤮 especially when he casts himself to do it 🤮

Iris1976 · 05/07/2023 12:29

Toe sucking is not illegal and is not raping minors, getting off on child porn or sexually and physically abusing adults

An unpleasant fetish for those who don’t like it, but it’s not illegal

Well, I'm with you on not watching films with rapes, but what is mind-boggling is just how much of film and TV a dislike of watching graphic sexual violence against women debars you from. I made it three episodes into Game of Thrones, for instance. I think I made it to the end of the first episode of The Fall. The Handmaid's Tale is a favourite novel of mine, and obviously it contains mass ritual rape, but the TV series is torture/rape porn, whereas the novel does not depict the rapes in graphic detail. I've never even tried to watch Django Unchained.

People defend it on the grounds that violence against women exists and should be flagged up, but in fact it's normalised and turned into the unremarkable content of popular entertainment. So many 'revenge' movies just reach for the graphically-depicted rape of a woman as a default motivation for a male campaign of violence. Interesting how rarely male rape is depicted, and when it is, it's depicted as rare and horrifying, not normalised, or just casually happening in the background of a scene in which something 'important' is happening.
