I need a kitchenette sink unit thing without mains plumbing. Is this possible?

It’s for an Airbnb loft conversion and to get a proper kitchenette up there would mean busting up the bathroom. I have a job and fridge and microwave and a place to labia, but the sink is what’s foxing me. Ideas please.

A place to labia??

jaundicedoutlook · 28/06/2023 18:01

I’m sat on the train literally crying at the ‘place to labia’…! Every time I read it it sets me off again.

You're living the dream, op

Fairly sure you can't Airbnb a place as having a kitchen without mains water and actual waste plumbing. They've changed to rules recently, worth checking.

That's like saying my house has a bathroom but you can't shower or flush the loo.

😂😂😂

I have no idea at all how my labia crept into that.

How very surprising. Should I put that on the listing???

This, you'd need to make it really clear in the listing or you'll get bad reviews.

I'd say your labia is definitely a unique selling point

I would. It could make a difference!

You can get sinks that require you to fill up a Jerry can type bottle for the clean water and another one for the waste water. They are absolutely grim though and a pain in the arse. The waste water goes all mouldy and absolutely stink, and you have to keep filling up the clean water all the time and emptying them. If you have to do this for a holiday rental I suggest you don't. I want be majorly pissed off if I rented that place and it wasn't a proper kitchen with a proper waste and running water.

3luckystars · 28/06/2023 18:44

I don’t know if it will offset the lack of running water.

Polis · 28/06/2023 18:45

Will they have to climb a ladder to get into the loft?

Cubsandmiel · 28/06/2023 18:46

Hmm. Genitals notwithstanding, I suppose I was thinking of a bigger version of a caravan-type setup.

I think running water and drains are pretty basic requirements. How are you planning on emptying the waste? Water’s heavy so there’s carrying it down the stairs. Or some sort of hose going out if a window to…where?

er, no. The loft conversion is converted nicely, just without kitchenness.

I suppose like you do at a caravan park.

mind you that usually has cold water hook up.

Bugger.

So I’d empty the waste water down the WC

But in a caravan the waste goes outside straight into a waste tank which is usually wheeled away to empty.
In a motorhome the waste goes into a tank situated under the vehicle. You then drive over a waste point to empty.
I can’t see how either work upstairs in a house.

Cubsandmiel · 28/06/2023 18:50

Hmm. It would only be the kitchen sink water, not anything else. In my camper I had a little wee sink with two bottles underneath. One for clean and one for sink waste.

Honeyroar · 28/06/2023 18:55

Would it be other people using it? You’re very likely to get leaks if too much goes into the waste water tank. Id not risk it.

Loverofoxbowlakes · 28/06/2023 18:56

A quick Google suggests that kitchens need to be connected directly to the mains for waste and fresh water I'm afraid op.

Cubsandmiel · 28/06/2023 18:57

Yes it would be for the guests using the Airbnb rooms.

Oh. Back to the drawing board then. Have you got a link? I couldn’t see anything on the Airbnb site.
