6 hours today to get house and laundry sorted - anyone want to join me?

House looks like a bombs hit it and due to a ridiculous schedule haven’t done any more than keep food preparation areas clean for about a fortnight. Going to start a blitz at 10, anyone else doing a big housework day today?

Another half an hour I cleaned the rest of the walls and skirtings in the dining room and the patio doors. Just kitchen now to do.

Well done everyone, I called it a day at 5.30 but had a very successful day! Looking forward to gardening and then a walk with friends tomorrow as
a reward!

Get a life, seriously, 6 hours, ffs...

Ohmych · 24/06/2023 19:35

I am done. Off for a much needed shower. Can't even have a drink to reward myself because I have to be in work for 6.30am tomorrow.

Hollyhead · 24/06/2023 19:52

@Tighginn you ok? Seems a bit strange to join the thread so aggressively at this late stage. That’s the only 6 hours housework I’ve done in 14 days. It’s so nice to finally after a mental fortnight, sit down in a moderately clean and tidy house. It actually feels like a treat!

Nope Im on strike till the heatwave is over My HA turned the flat into a sauna with their works so they can take the consequences

Why is it down to you? Whoever lives with should be doing it too. You shouldn't have to spend 6 hours of precious free time on shared responsibilities. At least half that time should be doing enjoyable activities.

Hollyhead · 24/06/2023 21:36

@Jk987 because I quite enjoy doing it and DH took the Dc out to town to do opticians/new shoes then cinema. I think I got the nicer deal floating around at home listening to podcasts and finally getting to sort the house.

Omg……l have only just looked at munsnet, but this was my day today and l was in a little huff with myself for starting half way through, l thought why am l doing this.

today l done 2 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and the garage 5 loads of washing, l did cheat and use my dryer on the school uniforms so l don’t have to iron them.

To be honest l probably could of been faster but whilst doing ds room we had a chat and then in dd room (which l thought l would never get out of alive) we also read two chapters of a book tried on clothes and done some hair styles, dh feed and watered us cleaned both cars and hovered, then l went the tip and got back to visitors who left at 9.30pm (couldn’t take a hint) tomorrow l will change the beds because the washing machine will be free and do the kitchen, the living room and dining room will just take a quick lick.

l am glad l wasn’t the only one, feels good doesn’t it.
