Am looking for a Spanish word that sounds like a name, that has a nice meaning that could be a name for a dog!

Any ideas please?

In a very bad Spanish speaker and I don't quite understand the brief but do you mean things like

Clara (sort of means "so...")
Colina (means hill I think, I like the idea of a feminine version of Colin 😂)
Manzana (Apple)

Is this a real dog to be named?

If you’re going down the fruit route, Naranja is Orange
A family friend once called her dog el gato!
(translation: the cat)!

Google translate words that you find appealing in English. Dd wanted a Japanese name for our dog, that’s how we ended up with ddog’s name.

Huga · 16/06/2023 22:40

Female.

Yes doenst have to actually be a name. But like 'the Spanish word for cookie' sort of thing?

Spanish speaker here. I also don’t entirely understand the brief but Firulais is the default name for dogs (kind of analogous to Fido I suppose - it’s what you’d call a random dog in the street whose name you don’t know).
To the PP who said “pero” - that means “but” 😉. Dog in Spanish is “perro”.

Ah, cross-post. Cookie is galleta (pronounced guy-etta).

Chispa and Fuego were on my Spanish cat name shortlist. They mean spark and fire rather than something 'cute' though. Just thought they were lovely words

DameKatyDenisesClagnuts · 16/06/2023 22:58

My Spanish friend recently told me that the word for knickers is braguitas.

So I'm going with Braguita as the perfect dog's name

Milagro - miracle, not particularly doggy but I love it

Flamenco - flamingo

Osito- little bear/ teddy - you could use osita for a female

Sueño - dream

Linda - means pretty or beautiful in Spanish

Canela- cinammon

Avellana - Hazel

Rubia - blonde

Fresca - means fresh but can mean cheeky/ sassy

Miel - Honey

Sandia- watermelon (random!)
