How sexy is a man who can cook?!

So first night staying over with a new partner (both of us had child free weekends!) on Friday and not only did he cook dinner, he cooked the mother of all fry ups for Saturday brunch - clearly knows his way round a kitchen as well as good ingredients!

He thinks I am exaggerating when I say I find it sexy that he can cook! After 15 years with my ex who only during lockdown learnt how to make spag bol for the kids, it's bloomin lovely. Yeah more fool me for putting up with that but who else agrees - a useful man in the kitchen, sexy AF?!

It's nice to be looked after OP and it sounds like you've had years of meeting and looking after your ex's needs, having someone else who pulls his weight and does his share of domestic stuff is gonna be sexy and give you a boost of feeling good.

Yes it's a normal life skill but there's still a lot of men (and women) who would prefer/fall in to be the one doing all household cleaning and cooking with no appreciation. Plenty of threads on here with women doing it all at home.

Well done on ditching your ex and I hope new bloke continues to impress and give as much effort as he receives.

WotNoUserName · 06/06/2023 18:29

I don't think it's sexy. My ex cooks. My DP cooks. My sons cook.

Which is as it should be, it's a life skill.

Any bloke who claims he can't cook and expects others to do it for him is distinctly unsexy.

I think it’s just one of those weird things some people find attractive. I married a chef so I get it! I also find men really sexy when they’re driving, especially when they do the one arm around the back of the chair reversing….

Like the others said, surely it's a basic requirement?

fancreek · 06/06/2023 18:40

I don't get these replies. There's lots of things that come with being a 'functional adult' which are sexy! Lots of women find good dads sexy, men fixing cars sexy, being able to do diy or lift heavy things or whatever!

JobChangeSoonPlease · 06/06/2023 18:52

@whatafryup - I'm with you. I was recently in a similar situation and bloody loved it. Found it utterly sexy to be waited on whilst the man cooked with no instructions from me. Smile

LindorDoubleChoc · 06/06/2023 19:03

Top on my list of sexiness! Way above looks or physique.

Modaboutyou · 06/06/2023 19:16

I agree OP however I'm biased as my DH is a professional chef 😁

mathanxiety · 06/06/2023 19:21

But can he clean up and leave the kitchen as he found it?

Anyone can cook.

Crikeyalmighty · 06/06/2023 19:31

Not unless he's great looking too, doesn't make a massive thing of it and clears up

blueshoes · 06/06/2023 19:38

Yes, its sexxxy

Namechangedforthis2244 · 06/06/2023 19:40

There’s a big difference between cooking (eg spaghetti Bol for the kids) and cooking (eg date night hand made 3 course dinner).

The first for me is a basic adulting requirement, but the second is sexy….

Soopermum1 · 06/06/2023 20:08

DP's cooking dinner right now. He also picked DD up from school (not his) and had a conversation with her about what was troubling her that day. The house is clean, the kitchen will be relatively clean when he's finished. Sufficient sexiness level achieved.

No, I just expect adults to be able to do basic staying alive stuff.

A man who can sand, re-wax and then consistently keep a wooden floor clean with a MOP and BUCKET, on the other hand? Hold me back.

So a man who can do basic cleaning in his own home.

EBearhug · 06/06/2023 20:40

Basic living skills, but I do appreciate a good cooked breakfast and not being able to cook would be dumpable. My newish man is visually impaired and he can cook, so most other men have no excuse. It's not that which makes him sexy, though.

wildlifeobserver1 · 05/06/2023 17:58

Are any women who cook really sexy too?

I must be really, really sexy, if you're right!

Boshi · 07/06/2023 12:56

I don’t find it sexy - my dad was the cook in my parents relationship but my DH does not cook independently of me... I’ve gone backwards in time 😣it would def feel great if I could trust DH to take care of dinner or lunch regularly, I’m jealous of you all!

Comedycook · 07/06/2023 13:28

I can cook and am good at it. I do all the cooking in our household and all food shopping. The kitchen is my domain and I wouldn't want him to cook the meals. Therefore being with a man who can cook doesn't bring anything new to the table for me... excuse the pun. Put up some flat pack furniture, top up the oil in the car and take care of the things I can't do is much more useful! Dh can cook basic stuff..he lived alone for over a decade before we met so he didn't starve...but I'm a lot better at it.

I do believe everyone should be able to cook...I have taught both my DC to cook...

The sanding and re-waxing is a bit more challenging (I totally hold my hands up on this, having noped out on it myself).
