Do you hang washing outside?

Dh won’t as he gets awful hay fever, I do. And then people on here rave about upstairs laundry rooms? But how do you hang your washing out?

OP posts:
EmeraldFox · 31/05/2023 07:31

I hang mine outside on the washing line

Sweetladyjane · 31/05/2023 07:32

I put mine on airers and then I can bring them in quickly if the weather changes.

Moredarkchocolateplease · 31/05/2023 07:33

On a washing line. I also get terrible hay fever and live in the countryside, but I keep on top of my symptoms.

I don't hang the washing out while I'm cutting the grass though.

Merrow · 31/05/2023 07:35

Ideally on the washing line, if not then upstairs in the bedroom on a heated towel rail with the dehumidifier on.

drpet49 · 31/05/2023 07:35

Yes, generally from March to October or as much as the weather allows for it.

Veryfishy · 31/05/2023 07:36

Washing hangs on the line whenever possible

I get terrible hay fever and live in a very rural area but deal with the symptoms with eye drops , nasal spray , tablets …and complaining

Yirk · 31/05/2023 07:37

Yes on washing line weather permitting.

StopFeckingFaffing · 31/05/2023 07:38

Yes I have a rotary washing line on my lawn and use it whenever weather allows

hexsnidgett · 31/05/2023 07:38

I love hanging the washing out.
Don't you have a laundry basket?

Rolloisthebestpony · 31/05/2023 07:38

Washing on line whenever possible. Also get awful hayfever

Thesearmsofmine · 31/05/2023 07:38

Yes all year round.

HeidiUpTheMountain · 31/05/2023 07:39

Yes, on any day it looks like it will dry. When it’s too wet or cold, I resort to tumble drying (I have a washer dryer). I have a heated airer for things that are better not tumble dried, or for finishing things that have partially dried outdoors. But line drying is always my preference.

LolaSmiles · 31/05/2023 07:40

On the washing line unless the pollen count is high, then I dry indoors on an airer or tumble dry if needed.

Passthecake30 · 31/05/2023 07:42

I’ve got awful hayfever, everything goes outside apart from my bedding which gets aired inside or tumbled.

Okshacky · 31/05/2023 07:44

On the washing line. I wash and hang all day (hugemongous family) and then bring it all in in the evening and tumble anything still damp. I appreciate the peace of hanging it out in the fresh air or feel unutterably bored depending on my mood.

pensionconfusion · 31/05/2023 07:46

I hang out when it's good weather and in doors if it's raining. I don't have a tumble dryer.

CandyflossKid · 31/05/2023 07:47

Hay fever here too - everything goes on the line outside apart from bedding (tumble dried) and pyjamas (over an airer inside)

skippy67 · 31/05/2023 07:50

Washing line. I got my first tumble dryer 2 years ago and still prefer to line dry. Both dc and dh are hay-fever sufferers.

TheSandgroper · 31/05/2023 07:51

I never thought about not hanging my washing out in case dh suffered too much from hay fever. But even inside, my house will be full of whatever is on the wind. 25m acres are upwind of me to be harvested each year in springtime. Just in time for Western Australia’s famous spring flowering so he cops a double whammy.

Aslanplustwo · 31/05/2023 07:55

I always hang my washing outside on the line, and it doesn't affect my hay-fever at all.

Softoprider · 31/05/2023 08:00

I always hang washing outside. All year round. Air off on pulley rack in kitchen. Job done. I get hay fever too but it sounds like an excuse to me not to do it !

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2023 08:06

We hang washing out on the line all year round. We live on the coast and benefit from the coastal breeze, so it's possible to get washing almost-fully dry in winter.

TruJay · 31/05/2023 08:09

3/5 of us get terrible hayfever in our house, not sure about baby yet but dd has so far been hayfever free (lucky girl)
Manage symptoms with tablets, eye drops etc.
I love hanging washing out (as loser-ish as that sounds) bring it in if dh is cutting grass.
Only thing I do additionally is if our bedding or towels have been dried outside, I pop them in the dryer for 5 mins or so when I bring them in to ‘remove’ pollen. I can’t remember who told me to do this, where I heard/read to do this but it definitely made a difference to symptoms while in bed when clean bedding put back on 🤷🏼‍♀️

sparklyIsPretty · 31/05/2023 08:11

Terrible hay fever sufferers here.

I line dry, then Iron everything 😬 I've read it kills the pollen off

Hollyppp · 31/05/2023 08:11

drpet49 · 31/05/2023 07:35

Yes, generally from March to October or as much as the weather allows for it.
