Glastonbury line up is a nightmare!

At first glance I was relieved as it looked like there were no acts I needed to see appart from my future husband Jarvis. And it was perfect, about five acts I wanted to try and see but no urgency. Elton obviously is one. I will not be in tip top condition this year and Im grateful just to be going but, honestly looking a it properly its full of clashes. Kelis V Artic Monkeys V Wizkid!

who would you be prioritising? https://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/line-up/line-up-2023/

Glastonbury Festival - 2023

Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts

Fed again, Young Fathers (wow wow wow), Loyle Carner, Leftfield, Max Richter, Alt-J, Thundercat, Glen Hansard, Hobo Johnson, Sherelle, Paranoid London, Folamour, Max Cooper (for the visuals). A few clashes but these would be my top picks.

Ooh ooh ooh

Los Bitchos - bloody love ‘em
Big Joanie
Shelf Lives
The Big Moon
Young Fathers - best gig I’ve seen this year
Fever Ray
Billy No Mates

Don’t have tickets 😭

Agree, Young Fathers were incredible when I saw them a few weeks ago. Mind blowing, beautiful, emotional. Just wow.

What days are you going?
Lana Del Rey, Arctic Monkeys, Magic Numbers, Beth Orton would be my essentials and then Central Cee, Digga D and Stefflon Don

He really doesn't. We saw him at the O2 on Tuesday and I was worried about his voice but he was fantastic. Missed some of the high notes but generally great.
Two and a half hours and wall to wall hits.
He's pretty much had the same band since he started which is amazing.

Oops, quoted the wrong person. I was replying to this.
2Elton sounds like Vic and Bob these days. Sadly."

NashvilleQueen · 01/06/2023 11:09

There's about 50 acts from a quick skim through I would be interested to watch.

The line up gets shitter every year. Have to say I think this year is the worst ever.

When you see Billy Bragg topping a list, you just know it's going to be the shittest stage ever.

Although I like Yusaf / Cat Stevens. At least he can can still hold a tune. Although the best Legend ever was Barry Gibb - he was so genuinely delighted to be so enthusiastically received!

EachandEveryone · 01/06/2023 18:21

Billy Bragg tops that stage every year and I think you probably know that’s his stage that he is well involved with all the bookings. And it’s for like minded people. Just walk straight past it.

I've been twice, 1987 and 1995 (that was a stellar year, the line ups were insane).

I could have gone this year as a worker, so free in exchange for putting in a few hours a day. I turned it down as apart from Elton John, Queens of the Stone Age, Guns and Roses and Royal Blood the line up is shite. It gets worse and worse. Yes I didn't even bother for FREE.

Thepleasureofyourcompany · 01/06/2023 19:08

StaunchMomma · 30/05/2023 16:15

Gotta be honest, I think it looks shite.

I'd spend most of the weekend in Arcadia. Only a handful of others I'd want to see and certainly not the supposed headliners on the pyramid.

Not feeling the Glasto FOMO this year!

Absolutely this.

I mean, I'm sure I'd find some real gems somewhere but clearly not on the main stages.

jay55 · 30/05/2023 21:15

I've never gotten over Prodigy v The cure in the 90s. Didn't even have mobiles so couldn't call my dad to get him to record one.

It was Glasto 1995. The gig choices were heartbreaking to make. I've still got my programme, written all over like a military operation of who to see when! Offspring blew me away. Every band that counted at the time were there. Great days. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/metro.co.uk/2015/06/26/glastonbury-in-1995-was-the-most-90s-thing-ever-here-are-13-reasons-why-5240528/amp/

Jabiru · 01/06/2023 19:16

Is Jarvis playing? I’ve just seen him live. He was IMMENSE

OneHundredOtters · 01/06/2023 19:17

Oh that was so lovely wasn't it @AutumnCrow when he started talking about how people treated them as a bit of a joke and now seeing all those people singing along 🥲

Jellykat · 01/06/2023 19:30

I'd prioritise QOTSA above Eltons warbling any day!

jay55 · 01/06/2023 19:31

Thanks for that article @SilentHedges could even see a couple of my friends bands listed who were on the Avalon stage that year when zooming in on the poster.
It was probably the best year I went.

napody · 01/06/2023 19:35

Itd be Christine and the Queens, The Damned, and Candi Staton (hoping she's in better voice than Diana Ross) for me .... but that's a reassuringly meh lineup for me without tickets!

PickAChew · 01/06/2023 19:45

I'd be annoyed at having to choose between Hot Chip and The Damned. I think The Damned would win.

I'd be in for Toyah and Robert Fripp on the Sunday afternoon.

PickAChew · 01/06/2023 19:52

Saturday, I'd have an early night.

beguilingeyes · 01/06/2023 20:36

I've only been once..in 1982 #oldperson. I've just ordered the poster from the Glasto website. In those days you could get day tickets. I only went on the Sunday as I'd had Simon and Garfunkel at Wembley Stadium the day before.
My ticket was £8.

Glastonbury is alway hit and miss. I much prefer Isle of Wight festival. Been going regularly for years. Never disappoints

I found IOW really boring! Daytime line ups good but post 10pm really nothing more

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2023 05:53

And the beauty of Glasto is you can take your own booze and carry it into all aresa. No other festival does that. The food is fantastic also. The curry bus has seating and tables upstairs.

DeadButDelicious · 02/06/2023 06:06

I just saw Pulp at my local festival, you definitely, definitely, definitely have to see them if 'The Churnups' do turn out to be them. The show they have put together is phenomenal.

I'm afraid Jarvis is my future husband though 😁.

Bearded Theory does

SellFridges · 02/06/2023 06:58

The Churnups are the Foos apparently. Pulp also one of the TBA’s.

Camp Bestival lets you take your own booze as well.

Bearded Theory does

Shambala does too

EachandEveryone · 02/06/2023 09:02

It makes such a difference. Some places take it off you or you can’t drink at the stages.
