5.5 months postpartum and I think I'm pregnant again - HELP

Sorry it's long just want to add in all details.

Had a very faint positive this morning. I have a long history of early miscarriage so not taking it for a definite positive until it gets stronger. But it's definitely there.

I am so torn on how to feel. DH and I have been using protection, plus I'm breastfeeding. My periods are back but irregular that's why I tested because I'm not sure on dates.

DH is currently looking at getting the snip as he's adamant on having one child, as was I. But now I don't know what to do if it gets stronger.

I've heard it can result in high risk pregnancy, plus financially it would be a strain but not impossible, not to mention how hard it will be with a 1 year old and a newborn. But I don't know if I could not continue with the pregnancy as it was so hard to have DS. However, not against it in any way at all, and will seriously consider all options.

Has anyone else had this and been okay with two very young children at once?
I'm trying to work out all the pros and cons but can't think straight!

Can't confide in DH right now as he will pass out if I tell him. 🤣

He's about to go away working for 5 days straight so I won't see him until he's back.

Obviously trying to work and process this whilst away will be hard for him.

I thought at least he could have a few days to relax before I told him the news - otherwise I would have told him straight away.

Ahhhh. Thanks for the advice, I'll do it tonight. I'm sure he'll be fine...🙈

Well, it went as expected, not great.

He said he will support whatever decision I make, but yeah, he's very confused and worried about it.

Thanks again all.

@Namechangeed its a big shock for him, just like it was for you. You have had your time of finding out and freaking out, asking here if it's doable. Now it's his turn to lose his mind! Try not to take his actions or words for the next few days personally, let it sink in, then broach the subject again.

Just wanted to say I fell pregnant again when DD1 was 9 months and it was a massive shock as she had been an ivf baby and this time was natural. There's 18 months exactly between DD1 and DD2 and it while it was hard juggling a toddler and a newborn, it was totally worth it. You're used to the sleepless nights, you're in the swing of buying nappies/formula etc, and you're getting it 'over with' in one go essentially, rather than having a big gap between (I know you mentioned your DP wanting the snip). When DD2 was born, she went into a pram, and DD1 went into a pushchair. Juggling two at a young age seems scary and bonkers, but you find your groove and get into the swing of things.

Hope you and your DP are ok, op, and come to whatever decision is best for you both

I was pregnant with my third child three months after a c-section with the second. It was fine. It was a high risk pregnancy because of the caesarian, but number three was a normal delivery.

Child number four followed soon afterwards. There are only 5 years between the first and the fourth. It was fine. And it got all the nappy stuff over and done with fairly efficiently.

Thankyou @HowcanIhelp123.

I think we'll need some time to adjust, but him moreso. Some separation might actually help us both think over what's next.

I'm glad I've told him now 🙂

Congratulations OP. I have 14m between my 2. They're 7&6 now. Best decision I ever made. The pregnancy is harder than when baby is born. Yes it's tough that first year but you'll get through.
My 2 are the best of friends. If I'd have had my way I'd have had another straight after but DH said no. So that was that.

You're going to be absolutely fine!

Congratulations OP. My older two are 14 months apart, the first couple of years were hard and then we added DC3 into the mix. They are teens now and things are hectic but I get a lie in now!
