2 days at Lego land - £550

Tead · 30/05/2023 08:56

Will two days be enough time to see everything. I hope we don't have to rush around. We will be staying overnight.

Shocked at the price but promised the kids. We could have gone to Spain for this much.

Well you could easily do it for cheaper, staying off site for a start.

Morechocmorechoc · 30/05/2023 08:58

Dont cereal packets offer discount to legoland?

Nanamuffin · 30/05/2023 08:58

Two days is fine but £550 is a lot! There is a lot to do - is it expensive because you’re staying at the Lego hotel?
I am not sure it’s worth the expense. Legoland itself has so much to do for children (well I’ve been several times with a now 5 year old)

Yes two days is enough to do it all

Chickoletta · 30/05/2023 08:59

Why is it so much? You can do it cheaper than that. Tesco vouchers? Stay offsite? Yes, 2 days will be fine.

AutisticLegoLover · 30/05/2023 09:01

I've been looking at this too but no way we will stay at their hotels. We will be going for one day and I'm on the look out for vouchers. I've never been so I'm hoping this thread is helpful.

DarkForces · 30/05/2023 09:01

What? You could take kids to Spain for £550 at the same time as you're in Legoland (presumably peak season)?
2 days should be ok but you won't get on every ride especially if it's peak time. I'd work out what you want to do most and start there. There's lots to do and depending on the children's ages you can probably rule out some areas. I use the shows to break up the queuing

TookTheBook · 30/05/2023 09:04

What is the breakdown of that cost OP?

We did Legoland 2-4-1 entry with Kellogg's cereal box vouchers.

Are you driving or public transport?

Where are you staying overnight (and how many nights)?

Simplelobsterhat · 30/05/2023 09:10

We're going soon, family of 4. Only one day booked so far, £136 using Tesco clubcard vouchers, so around £45 of vouchers, and a premier Inn in Slough the night before for around £50. Even without clubcard vouchers if you stay off-site you should be able to do it much cheaper than you are quoting. And you can often find 2 for 1 vouchers.

Currently debating getting tickets for the day before too using more clubcard vouchers, to see more. We've been twice before and managed to do most things in a (busy, long) day, but I think those were quieter times possibly (a Friday in September and a Tuesday in June, whereas this is a Monday in july) and also younger kids so less worried about doing the bigger rides.

Pinkdelight3 · 30/05/2023 09:14

Two days is fine. We used to do this when DC were little. We stayed in the Legoland hotel when there was only one of them, you got into the park early on the second day and the pool was a great place to retreat to on the first day when the park got crazy busy later in the day. It was pricey but worth it overall and the themed rooms and restaurant were a lot of fun, as were the Brick or Treat evening events. However we knocked it on the head when the second hotel was built, massively increasing the number of guests using the facilities, and it all felt too rammed. It's still worth a visit as I'm sure your DC will find it magical and remember it, but it can get pricey and stressful and two days is plenty. Staying off site will be much cheaper in future, but it's worth doing once.

User478 · 30/05/2023 09:18

Next time fly to Billund and do Legoland there.
It's about the same price!

Roselilly36 · 30/05/2023 09:28

We have been to Legoland twice, once the in Legoland hotel when it first opened, very expensive, but worth it, as we really enjoyed it. Second time we stayed at a hotel offsite I think it was a Premier Inn fairly close by. That was ok and tons cheaper, but if you can afford the onsite stay do it. Enjoy your trip.

Bunnycat101 · 30/05/2023 09:29

To be fair you might all get to Spain for £500 but wouldn’t have much change for actual accommodation. But days out have got really expensive as have hotels.

You could do legoland cheaper but lots of people really enjoy the on site hotel so there is benefit if you think the children would like it. You could do it cheaper by staying offsite but then lose the benefit of staying, the pool etc. Persoanlly though if I was paying £500 plus I’d go for the cheaper hotel and then spend the difference in fast passes.

Roselilly36 · 30/05/2023 09:34

Sorry forgot to mention you can definitely cover everything in two days, Lego in the shop is very expensive, take a picnic on your first day and eat it in Miniland, lots of benches and it’s quiet. Buy a refillable Lego cup, assuming they still do them and get then refilled throughout the day. Consider a q bot. Try to avoid late summer, wasps! It’s hilly, there is a hill train. Food in the park, isn’t great and it’s expensive as parks usually are! I think when we stayed in the hotel we got in a bit earlier and went on the Atlantis ride a couple of times, before the crowds.

HoleyShit · 30/05/2023 09:37

Are you going in the school holidays? If so, I would avoid like the plague. You'd need a week to see everything/go on everything due to the excessive queues.

AutisticLegoLover · 30/05/2023 09:51

If not the school holidays then when is best to go when you have school age kids?

I was going to suggest that!

Late August would be a good time to go, as Danish and many other countries school holidays have finished.

You can fly from Stansted for about £40 pp return. The airport is about a mile from Legoland.
There's a Center Parcs style place with waterpark next door, so you could either stay on site or I don't know if there's local air bnbs etc?

Would be a great little family holiday for a few days and probably a lot less crowded than UK Legoland.

We aim for random inset days

SummerSimmer · 30/05/2023 12:32

Sounds fab, I used to love taking my DC there. I hope you have a lovely time.

Smallinthesmoke · 30/05/2023 13:35

I hope you have a lovely time!
The great benefit of staying in the Lego onsite hotel is that you can pace yourself. Arrive early, do a few rides, then sit out the busiest bit from 12-4, then pick up some more rides at the end of the day. In the middle of the day, go to shows, cinema, Miniland, swimming, playground....
In my experience, you will be able to do mostly everything you want to do in 2 days, but most of the rides will be at the beginning and end of each day. Plan to arrive early and leave late!

The best time to go is term time in November.
Seriously, don't go peak times - it's hideous!

AutisticLegoLover · 30/05/2023 13:55

My kids are 14 and 8 and I can't really take them out of school. Plus shit weather is more likely in November. Is it really that bad in the summer? Surely the water rides won't be open in late autumn?

WelshNerd · 30/05/2023 14:00

We stayed in the Legoland hotel during school holidays, did two days and also had the ride access pass. It is definitely enough to see everything and the hotel is amazing for the kids to be fair. It was very much a one off treat due to the price.

Can you really go to Spain for that?

Dressed my kids in waterproofs. Went on an October inset day. Brought picnic and snacks. Tickets via Clubcard. Just paid for parking and a cup of tea. It was still hideous (kids loved it).

AllIwantforChristmas22 · 30/05/2023 14:03

I don’t think there are many water rides. There is a splash park but wouldn’t go to Legoland for that. I even think 2 days is too long for that age. The 14 year old will be done after day 1, lots of the rides are for younger kids.
