Clean pants!
Maybe food and drink?
Something to read?

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 27/05/2023 12:43

Books/kindle
Headphones and something that can play music/tv/films
Slippers or flip flops
Nice smelling soap and toiletries if you're allowed to shower
Comfy loose lightweight clothes for sleeping and travelling home
Squash to make the lukewarm jug of water you'll have at the side of your bed more palatable
If you're on painkillers stock up on laxatives and fresh fruit.

Comfy clothes
Big hoodie or dressing gown

His promise to sort things so that when you go home, you will not have to do any household chores until you have recovered more than sufficiently for that to be safe and comfortable for you. Also, depending on what the surgery is, a plan to give you whatever help you may need for your own personal care.

chilly bottle or similar if you have it - nurses can fill with chilled water or show you where it is if mobile
charger
snacks
deodorant
hairbrush
flannel
soap
socks
pj’s
clean knicks

Atishoos · 27/05/2023 14:16

I have a grab bag also, as I might need it at short notice. In it are soft (but not hot) PJs, a short light robe for when I am wheeled down for procedures in the not so dignified hospital gown, a very long charger (learned through experience), ear buds, and the usual undies, toiletries etc. Slippers, hair ties stretchy hair band, eye mask (essential!), and a fleece in case I'm cold.

TeaAndStrumpets · 27/05/2023 14:16

Great suggestions upthread.

Having been in a similar situation one hot summer, I would be extremely specific on what clothes your DH should bring you to go home in....maybe he can send you a photo of what he has picked out for you? I got winter tights!

Megapint · 27/05/2023 14:26

Dry shampoo, handcream & frozen Capri sun pouches
