School pick up twat

Revoltingrhyme · 25/05/2023 22:11

We’re all anonymous here so we can secretly rage at the one person who drives us insane at school pick up.

Now I’ll start by saying this isn’t an attack on the women, I am a young, high maintenance woman myself- platinum hair, false tan etc but there’s a few groups of similar mums at the school pick up who come in gym sets, hair all done, lovely done filler. Very glam.

But it’s this one dad who sets my teeth on edge. He will cut the queue every day and walk up the path past everyone until he finds one of these mums and tries to flirt with them very blatantly. It’s the strut he does, the specific type of woman he looks for. He’s not even cutting right up to the front, just until he sees one of these mums who are simply trying to pick up their kids. Argh he makes my skin crawl and it never fails to irritate me every day 😂

Anyone else have that one twat at pick up who annoys you?

I have just had to look up dry robes, as I too had no idea what they were. Oh my, what a daft garment. Sorry to anyone who practically lives in theirs, or regularly goes for a dip in a pond, but to my eyes, they look downright silly for everyday wear.

We are in Liverpool, so it’s very much in the culture to be so glam all the time 😂

I’m now DYING to know where as I’m also in Liverpool 😂 I’m baffled by the mums who wear brand new Balenciagas to pick up. Like my kids can’t walk three steps without standing on my feet so no way would I be wearing £500 trainers around them

Riapia · 26/05/2023 19:23

So obviously you have never been the chosen one.
😉😁😁

Tbf. Though highly in appropriate that does sound lovely. I hope the horse is friendly and likes a pat from the children and teachers.

She tends to stand at the bottom of the field. Her dd is the same age as mine (10) so she is able to walk out the gate alone. The horse also doesn’t like dogs, and there are lots of dog walkers , so she tends to stand as far away as she can safely go

Complete and utter bollocks. It's the culture among a certain small sub-section of society as a whole, and is not specific to Liverpool. I don't know one single person like this.

I just got a dry robe (in the sale hence time of year) it is INCREDIBLE. It always rains at 3pm on a Friday at school pick up. It's like wearing a hug. I bloody love it and no intention of swimming in a lake!

Cam22 · 26/05/2023 21:07

Sounds like the wimpy, needy guy in Motherland.

70sTomboy · 26/05/2023 21:10

Back in the late 90s when mine were primary aged, the mothers were Princess Di looky likes. There were a couple that did the whole 'here darling' while darling Katie had to run and be swung round like Di did on the ship to the princes. They had been separated for a maximum of 6 hours, but these mums acted like the DC had been boarders and not seen them for 3 weeks. I rolled my eyes 360.

@Thepeopleversuswork
"I'm far too busy and intellectual to worry about trivia like this, I prefer more wholesome pursuits and I think it looks cheap".
I very much feel all this. But luckily as mums, we are forced to open our minds a bit 😂. My dd is loud when I'm discrete, she's is colourful and stands out when I want to blend in. She wears figure hugging clothes when I have always gone for comfort and a loose fit.

I can see how my dd's looks and style is based on her personality. Her clothes and accessories suit her and she finds it fun and satisfying to dress in this way. For example she loves dangly chandler earrings, I couldn't bare it, they'd annoy me so much and I'd just feel them and couldn't relax and enjoy myself.

I'm fiercely proud of her so am embracing this look as she rocks it. I love that she's not a carbon copy of me. We are different and as the cliche goes, that's a good thing.

…discreet not “discrete”.

Sigh

Not like I haven’t addressed it at many points during this thread but I am not jealous I haven’t been hit on.
I have a DP, I’m also in my mid 20s whilst this man is in his mid 30s. So most definitely not in my scope even if I was single 😂

Made the mistake of googling Dry Robe.

Just why?

The 'why' is pretty easy.

They are for wearing after a sea / outdoor swim. They are full-length & the inner material allows you to wear them straight from the water & keep warm.

For genuine outdoor swimmers, which is A Thing at the moment, they are great.

Wearing to the school run or anywhere other than water-side is a crime though!

Great for kids as well. DS has one we take to swimming lessons (bought for the beach originally). He puts it on, sits eating a packet of mini cheddars, and by the time I am dressed, he is dry.

Neither of us would wear one to school.

This thread! It's nuts.

Bet you didn't think you were going to be accused of being " insanely jealous " over some creepy dad when your thread is about him being a twat and queue barging?

Or that this would be all about Dry Robes?

😂

What a spiteful spiteful post. Every time you think you can't be any more shocked by how vile people are, someone like you comes along.

Missed it. Curses.

People do their hair to go to the gym!? I don't even brush mine, just put it in a ponytail and go! And why are they picking their children up THEN going to the gym? Sounds like people who just want you to think they work out to me!

No " going to the gym " isn't necessarily involved with wearing gym kit anymore.

Doesn't sound very glam to me! I always thought gym wear not at the gym was for people who value comfort over style, those who can't quite bring themselves to wear obvious nightwear in public.

No there's a whole world of glam 'ath leisure' wear out there now.

Inkypot · 25/05/2023 23:13

So none of the mums at your school have highlighted hair? I have platinum blonde hair myself but I'm not remotely glam, just a pretty run of the mill mum that happens to have blonde hair. I can't imagine a school (or any everyday situation) where that would stick out like a sore thumb.

I find it weird that they all dress exactly the same🤔. Luckily we're all individuals here, so we just wear whatever we want. No need to 'fit in'.

Mugaloaf · 27/05/2023 08:24

summerfinn · 26/05/2023 08:02

Yes 😂🙈 remember my infamous post. I was completely slated for being a selfish high maintenance mother for looking after myself. They only thing acceptable on mums net is the haggard martyrs that put themselves lady and haven't bought a single new item of clothing since Ireland last won the Eurovision 😂😂

😂😂😂

Hopelesscynic · 25/05/2023 23:58

Sorry but your description of "glam" is rather grim. Fake tans and platinum hair? No thanks

So Marilyn Monroe wasn't glamorous?

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 27/05/2023 08:54

just googled fry robes. Never heard of them. They are quite strange. Like oodies almost

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 27/05/2023 08:55

*dry 😅

Outnumberedmummy2022 · 27/05/2023 08:58

😂😂😂 this thread has me in stitches
