If you're taking Ozempic to lose a bit of weight doesn't this make you feel guilty?

The Weight Loss Chat board feels like it's been taken over by Ozempic threads at the moment, with everyone and their aunt spending a fortune on injections to lose weight. Yet I've just seen Diabetes UK has issued a warning saying that diabetic patients are struggling to get supplies because of the demand. For them, taking the drug is not a lifestyle choice! I do appreciate there are those on the WLC board who are clinically obese and are taking it because their weight is impacting their health, but when I see women with normal BMIs saying they're taking it to lose that last stubborn stone I do despair. Knowing patients were struggling for supplies so I could fit in a bikini make me feel so guilty that I just couldn't do it. I'd love to hear their justification.

Unfortunately a lot of people don’t give a second’s thought to the medical needs of others, as long as they can get what they want.

Of course I'm being serious! This was about people paying for private prescriptions of £200 a month for weight loss drugs, not a post about 'the deprived'. And I see you've gone and searched my posting history which mentioned Diptyque candles and Goose feather pillows and yet still managed to berate the OP instead.

I did wonder why they were banging on about candles to me! 😂 That's desperate, searching someone's thread to find something to use against them.

@QueenieMe I know, right? I like to spend my hard earned cash on nice things, so it seems I'm not allowed to have an opinion on anything unless it's the deprived and should donate to Diabetes charities. Some folk really need to wake the heck up Hmm

I'm now on the correct thyroid medication now. But for over a year I wasn't so put on 4 stone in that year, and felt very unwell.

I'm so sorry to hear that and not a bit surprised. Thyroid treatment is an utter disgrace. I had a battle over that too when my thyroid was removed and I was refused treatment for months, then given a paltry dose that didn't touch the sides. Wishing you good luck with this, hope it works well with no side effects.

@caringcarer Thank you but I'm in Essex so a bit of a trek away, it will come in stock down here soon hopefully.
One of the issues is there is only on company that manufacturers ozempic and they are struggling to keep up with demand, but i understand that more production capacity/factories are being built so hopefully the supply issues will be solved soon

Just read on another thread that a poster prescribed Ozempic for diabetes can't get hold of it because of supply issues. Meanwhile another poster on the same thread was telling someone with a BMI below 30 to lie about it to get a prescription. Beyond warped!

Not all of us want to take ozempic to lose a stone. I was abused growing up and my weight gain is psychological. I’ve gotten help and tried every diet under the sun. Vegan to low carb. I got a gym membership and went every damn day as well as eating healthy. This went on for years. I didn’t lose any more than my initial 10 pounds of water weight. I’m taking ozempic because I’m at my whits end. I want to be healthy because when I look at the blob in the mirror I don’t see me. I see a blob. Now if there’s such a shortage the companies can start making more. It’s supply and demand. No one regardless of them taking it for type 2 diabetes or to lose weight should be denied. If I’m paying for something I better get it. I believe this goes for all people. Now if you are not planning to use it but you are buying it so no one else can use it then I can understand, but we only get a month’s worth just like anyone else.
