Does school count? Boarding house of 60 and two members of staff🤣

PoePoePoePoePoe · 17/05/2023 23:22

Shared house at uni - 8 of us, it was a riot 😄

Hmmmbetterchangethis · 17/05/2023 23:28

Other than boarding school……… my MIL and FIL, DH, 3 x SIL, 1 x BIL and 2 x lodger.

There was one bathroom (that often had cats shit in the bath first thing as cat was bullied by local cats) and one shower room that was put in after I’d been there a year or so………

37 ! in a massive closed down Medical Center in Central London. Just like the Tv program Crashing. In fact I have never lived on my own all my adult life, I don’t think I could.

Fansandblankets · 17/05/2023 23:28

My family, 8 of us. 4 teenage girls and 2 toddlers 😨

Simianwalk · 17/05/2023 23:30

8 in a shared house.

Xmasbaby11 · 17/05/2023 23:32

9 of us in a big London house - from 6 different countries!

I’ve also lived on my own a few times. I moved a lot in my twenties. Glad I had the experience when I did - I’m 47 and married with 2dc and those days are long gone!

TumTumTumTumTum · 17/05/2023 23:37

Apartment at uni, 4 of us. But there was a whole bunch of us in adjoining apartments. Absolutely the best time of my life.

Thecomfortador · 17/05/2023 23:43

5 of us I think - 4 male friends and me. Not a particularly happy time as I recall. One friend would get so drunk he'd urinate in the downstairs bathroom sink. Another put his foot through the wall right outside my room while I was sleeping. I'm sure one window was smashed in the early hours as said pissed up guy lost his keys but needed to get his stuff as he was getting a coach somewhere. General grimness. Bin bag with maggots under it as no-one took it out.

Chompiemompie · 17/05/2023 23:46

8 of us at Uni early 90s but often with partners, friends, visitors and adopted waifs staying there would be about 20 of us. An absolute adventure and what life learning.
My dd us aghast when she hears about the conditions of our student digs.

CuriousGeorge80 · 17/05/2023 23:53

6 plus me. It was awesome. Lived alone for a couple of years in my early 30s and didn’t enjoy it really. I like having people around.

Vetoncall · 17/05/2023 23:53

I did 3 years in halls of residence where there were hundreds of students from all over the world. It was all individual en-suite bedrooms with one kitchen per 6 rooms and one large communal area per floor. I lived in a house share with 7 friends for the other 2 uni years, which was mad but fun.

DramaAlpaca · 17/05/2023 23:57

Seven of us in a shared house at university. Me, my friend and five lads. Never a dull moment.

I’m so intrigued!

AgeingDoc · 18/05/2023 00:04

Other than however many hundreds were in halls at University and the various hospital residencies I have lived in over the years, there were 7 of us in my house in third year at University. We were a fairly eclectic mix - me, 2 nursing students, a physiologist, a theology student, a history of art student and a teacher. It was fun!

Three of my four adult kids at home/ returned home, and then two of them moved their partners moved in.. to save money for house deposits.
I have a standard 3 bed semi, so we created a tiny 4th bedroom downstairs.

Two years we all lived together. Cramped.. yes..Fabulous.. definitely! DS1's girlfriend was an Aussie here on a 2 year visa.. I adore her. She cooked, got a job at my work place and was wonderful... I still miss her. They went to OZ when my DS1 got his couples visa and and now there, and married.

DD2 and her (now) husband moved out 4 weeks before their baby was born.. jsut up the road, so we see them most days and I am Granny child care.

Now we are down to just three of us in the house (Ds2 is autistic and unlikely to live independently) and it feels empty!

Everyone got on so well, and mucked in, and I loved having so many young adults around .

Lifeetc · 18/05/2023 01:17

17 strangers
1 washing machine!

Pahpahpotato · 18/05/2023 01:22

10, childhood home. 5 siblings, parents (before the divorce!), oldest brothers girlfriend and one of my sisters friends who’d been kicked out at 14 by her horrendous mother.

ButteryNuts · 18/05/2023 10:11

15 others, two showers between us all Shock. University.

Dwightlovesmichael · 18/05/2023 10:13

Dh and 3 children.

I’ve never done a house share or anything, I can just about tolerate sharing a bathroom and kitchn with my family. Anyone else would send me over the edge!

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 18/05/2023 10:19

There was 13 of us here at one point of lockdown.

The 10 of us who officially live here (4 are off at Uni so not here full time) and SIL’s 3 children when she was working in ICU and her kids school closed.

I love a busy house, but not something I’d care to repeat - though without homeschooling it would have been fine.

Paulrn · 18/05/2023 10:21

65 in one space and 450 on the whole ship 😀 for months at a time

AccidentallyFabulous · 18/05/2023 10:24

Not counting hall at university, 7; parents and five siblings. I don't remember it though - by the time I was forming memories, the oldest ones were moving out/ going to university.

I do remember it being very busy though around Christmasses etc; there were often long-ish-term guests and pretty much open house for anyone who needed it. Regularly double figures for Sunday lunch.

Breathmiller · 18/05/2023 10:25

I've been 5 at most ( including me) I have a big age gap between my 4 children so they have never all lived in the same house at the same time but when the youngest was born the oldest was still a fairly young adult so was around a lot. So it felt like 6.

My lowest has been 3. I have never lived alone and I don't suppose I ever will unless dh and I were to separate after all the kids have left, or him die before me. I often wonder how I'd be. I wouldn't have liked it when I was younger but (aside from the fact I have no desire to get divorced and certainly don't want dh to die) I think I would like it better now. I think I might try to go away on my own on holiday or retreat when I have less commitments at home just to see what it would be like to be completely on my own.

orangegato · 18/05/2023 10:26

7 others so 8 in total. Large family! But I kind of want to go back, I miss the cat and bills not being addressed to me…
