Is this enough food - and if not what else?

DH significant birthday this weekend and we're having 20 adults and 10 kids - in the garden from 1 (weather permitting):

2 x savoury tarts (large)
bread
potato salad
3 x large salads
olives
crackers
Grapes
cheese board
Houmous
crisps type things
Brownies
birthday cake
pizza for kids

Doesn't look much now I've written it down!

Any other ideas would be great.

I'd structure it around three 'mains' options, all things that go with jacket potaoes and or rice, then salads and all the other stuff as sides too. The mains cold be veggie bean chilli, one meat option (a Moroccan tagine/a curry?) plus the veggie tarts, served warm.
Extra pizza than you think you need

Mayrain · 16/05/2023 13:21

Thanks all for input.

So def no meat - DH strict veggie and we never serve meat when we have people over but so many veggie options that's fine.

So on top of my measly offerings I'm going to add veggie lasagne, one of the lidl spinach things. Salads are quite substantial so that's also good.

So revised list:

2 x savoury tarts (large)
bread
potato salad
3 x large salads (think cous cous, chickpea one and a lentil & feta one - all) delicious,
olives
crackers
Grapes
cheese board
Houmous
crisps type things
Brownies
birthday cake
pizza for kids (take out so can order large ones)
Lidl thing
Veg lasagne
DS savoury scones (they are really nice)
falafels

Anna Jones’s perfect tartine recipe | The modern cook

Ana Jones recipes: Whether the toppings are scavenged from the fridge or your local supermarket, a tartine is probably the simplest possible vehicle for flavour you’ll find – try an egg, caper and herb combo, or English garden mix

Is there a reason adults can't have pizza? I wouldn't touch the salads tbh and I'm not a tart fan

None at all - people can eat what they like.

That’s fine but it depends on how many pizzas. 2 pizzas isn’t enough for 10 children. Why can the children only have pizza? Also depends on how many lasagnas and how big they are. 1 won’t be enough for 20-30. 2 veggie tarts isn’t enough for 20-30 either.

I’m a vegetarian for animal rights reasons but I’d still serve some meat (even though I won’t eat it). I’d probably get some pre-prepared meat (unless you’re a meat eater and happy to cook it).

Mayrain · 16/05/2023 13:30

so this seems okay now quantity wise?

Also what I lack in food quantities I have more than made up for in alcohol 😂

Will order more than 2 pizzas as I said above people can eat what they like - adults and kids alike. My lot would def prefer pizza and I’ve decided to order as have messaged guests and seemed like a v popular option on group.

And def no meat. Non negotiable

Norugratsatall · 16/05/2023 13:38

Do a batch of veggie 'sausage rolls' op. Ready to roll flaky pastry, filled with breadcrumbs, cheese, an onion, some herbs maybe some lemon rind etc - bind with an egg or two, fill and bake! They're delicious....

Mayrain · 16/05/2023 13:43

They sound delicious- thank you

I like doing potato wedges for parties, (seasoned with paprika, salt, oregano, garlic powder and cumin) and pesto pasta salad (pasta with pesto, halved cherry tomatoes, mini mozzarella pearls and baby spinach leaves).

I might also do some carrot sticks for people to have the hummus with.

Irritatedcashier · 16/05/2023 13:47

Devilled eggs 🤤

Treasureboxkey · 16/05/2023 13:48

That sound great now.
I'm hungry.

Londontown12 · 16/05/2023 13:50

Sandwiches 🥪
sausage tolls
mini scotch eggs
celery and carrot sticks with dip
cheese and crackers
pork pie 🥧
All picky things that u can buy and plonk on a plate ! X

cocksstrideintheevening · 16/05/2023 13:50

In fact I'd just order pizza for everyone and make your salsa
To go with it. Makes your life easier and the adults will eat the pizza.

Yes, what a party where the host has said 'no meat, non negotiable' needs is three different types of processed pork.

Ha, that would definitely make life easier - annoyingly DH doesn't like pizza. He's a fussy bugger

Rowthe · 16/05/2023 14:01

There isnt an obvious main course.

It just seems like finger foods.

So you need a couple of proper veggie main course- maybe lasagne or something.

Comedycook · 16/05/2023 14:05

Even just some big platters of sandwiches/roll/wraps would be good. Pretty sure most of the supermarkets do them to order.

lakesummer · 16/05/2023 14:06

I'd prefer quiche to pizza so I don't blame your DH but I know lots of people prefer pizza!

I wouldn't run yourself ragged with too many different things. A smaller number of options well done and in sufficient quantities should be all good.

Thebigblueballoon · 16/05/2023 14:06

I’d take one of the salads off the menu personally and add:
baked potatoes or potato wedges
devilled eggs
vegetarian sausage rolls
extra pizza
a pot of veggie curry

CoronationKicking · 16/05/2023 14:06

There's 30 people coming and because DH doesn't like pizza you're having to put on a full spread of tarts and complicated salads etc?

Everyone will go straight for the pizza. Tell him to pick his one salad and do the olives, cheese and crackers with dips and a shit load of pizza.

RockGirl · 16/05/2023 14:08

Apple95 · 16/05/2023 12:33

I normally do a big tray of pulled pork to put in rolls or a big lasagna or something? You definitely need another main dish or two

Pulled pork is not vegetarian.

Mrsjayy · 16/05/2023 14:15

I'd do pizza for everyone maybe some pakora.
