I never, ever feel well, or not exhausted. What 1 thing would you suggest that has improved your wellbeing?

I'm in a vicious circle of feeling ill, run down and tired and as a result not looking after myself properly, exercising or eating well. Which can only make me feel worse.

I'm so fed up with constant tiredness and illness.

I do suffer with anaemia and hypothyroidism which doesn't help, along with high BP. I am overweight. Im 45. I have 2 small children who bring ALL the germs home.

I am determined to turn things around. I am upping my water intake, adding in a small fruit and veg smoothie, a multivitamin of some sort.

What else? I need an easy meal plan (happy to eat the same thing a lot!) Especially for breakfast and lunch.

If you've started doing, taking, eating, drinking something that you feel has been beneficial, please share!

I started taking vitamin D in January. While it hasn't transformed my life, I've been (positively) surprised by the difference it's made. Worth a try, as it's easy and cheap to do.

motherofkevinnotperry · 15/05/2023 17:41

Sleep! I'm similar to you and extra naps when I can grab them are the only thing that makes a difference.

Oh and cut out the sugar and refined crap food we all eat. Up your green veg and salads.

I had weight loss surgery. That helped me gradually tackle other stuff like exercise as the weight slowly came off

WwhatEever · 15/05/2023 17:46

Walking. It's free, accessible and boosts your mental and physical health.

RandyMiceDavies · 15/05/2023 17:47

Giving up alcohol.

I came to say this. Honestly don't underestimate the power of something so basic.

Babdoc · 15/05/2023 17:50

See your GP. Get your thyroxine dose optimised, investigate the cause of your anaemia and treat it, get your bp controlled and seek dietary advice for nutrition and weight loss.

Ontopofthesunset · 15/05/2023 17:51

Honestly? HRT, walking every day, weight loss and sleep. The HRT made the sleep possible. The walking every day made the weight loss easier, but it was more eating better and less that helped me with that. The weight loss made everything seem easier.

Hoolihan · 15/05/2023 17:52

Yoga! It has really helped me enormously both physically and in terms of general wellbeing.

Silkierabbit · 15/05/2023 17:52

I've had cancer and chemo and for me the biggest thing to recovery is swimming 3 times a week, helped mentally and physically and cuts reoccurance risk 50%. Also take a multi vitamin which helps with bone ache.

Bemyclementine · 15/05/2023 17:52

Thanks all.

I have cut down alcohol intake a LOT. I do love walking, but struggle for time - I'm a single parent, I used to walk in the evenings but can't anymore due to dc being in bed. I do a monthly walk with my mum (6to8 miles) but will def try to go more often. I do walk in my lunch hour a couple of times a week.

My sleep could definitely be better. Or earlier nights at least.

don't try everything at once make one change this week and when it's established add another change / good habit
you only have some much energy in the tank per day, you can't make more energy without sleep, so you need to prioritize where the energy goes , sometimes things have to be left undone,
realistically Priority used to be a singular word, now it is a plural but if everything is a priority the reality is nothing is,
looking after your kids is a priority but don't confuse their wants with needs, your needs might come after their needs but all of your needs always come before any of their wants

Bemyclementine · 15/05/2023 17:55

@Babdoc thyroxine is ok I think, and I'm taking iron. Cause of anaemia unknown, I've struggled with it for 30 years. Its MUCH better since I stopped having such heavy periods

GP was useless for weightless advice. I know what I need to do but the constant illness and tiredness make it very difficult

Weight lifting and exercise are the best things for me mentally and for fatigue. I would prioritise this - even 15 mins a day will help. Buy some dumbbells and kettle bells and just squeeze in some small work outs each day.

MMMarmite · 15/05/2023 17:55

Vitamin D for me too, when I was deficient.

SunshineLollipopsAndRainbows · 15/05/2023 17:57

Definitely giving up alcohol!
Have you been tested for low Vit B12? Honestly, I don’t think I have ever felt so dreadful until I started injections every 3 months. Beyond tired & the most awful churning/upset tummy. The injections are transformative!

itsmellslikepopcarn · 15/05/2023 17:57

I started doing the “miracle morning” from the book of that title, includes getting up at 5am, exercising + some other activities. Somehow I have far more energy throughout the day despite getting up earlier.

also take evening primrose oil, magnesium and a vegan multivitamin.

Zippedydoo123 · 15/05/2023 17:59

Plenty of water daily throughout the day.

This should help.

catchthedog · 15/05/2023 18:01

I paid for b12 injections every 2 weeks for 8 weeks. and then get a top up every 3 months. that's been quite transformational for me.
Your thyroid meds should be checked at least every 6 months to make sure you're on correct dose

Otherland · 15/05/2023 18:01

Go vegan.
Quit caffeine. Quit alcohol.

Good luck!

RetiredEarly · 15/05/2023 18:01

Yu need to treat the aenemia and hypothyroidism first and foremost.
What is your gp saying there?

AlligatorPsychopath · 15/05/2023 18:01

Exercise. High dose Vit D. Tackling the root causes of stress - changing job, in my case.

MeinKraft · 15/05/2023 18:02

Drinking less with several nights a week at least alcohol free, and ferrous fumerate tablets.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 15/05/2023 18:02

Slimming World and Metatone tonic and walking every day has transformed my life. Lost nearly 3 stone since end of November and I eat more now than I used to. I feel really well. Oh also some meditation and a bit of gentle yoga.

Cascais · 15/05/2023 18:02

Cut out sugar
