I'm wondering if of this description of a house wins some sort of prize as being the most vomit inducing?

Nice home though, if you can get past photo number 24...

I love it, there’s so much space and light. The stairs would put me off though. DC shouting “mummmmm” and you have to climb 5 floors to find them.

SiouxsieSiouxStiletto · 11/05/2023 20:49

Photo 21 of this one is far scarier

What is that exactly and is it in the house? Yikes.

I really like the zebra in the hallway of picture 24 Blush

Lush house and the dog is gorgeous

What's wrong with the kitchen?
Ours is similar in that's it's cream shaker cupboards with a black worktop. Not what I would have chosen but I felt when we moved in I felt it was inoffensive.
We have a very different table etc is that the issue?

I don't know? Perhaps it's that weird island?

Well, that was disappointing — when I saw ‘Whitby’ and ‘lifestyle’, I thought it was going to be a Goth extravaganza, with black walls and four-posters and candle sconces and a large wolfhound looking baleful on the black hearth rug under the coffin-shaped coffee table.

IfIGoThereWillBeTrouble · 11/05/2023 23:38

I don’t have enough furniture to fill it! Those bedrooms are massive. Either that or the beds in the photos are dolls house beds.
Mind you, I’d want more than 2 bathrooms for 7 bedrooms. Plus my knees wouldn’t cope with all those stairs….and I don’t have £900k!

NeedCoffeeNowPlease · 11/05/2023 23:52

I'm not sure that it's my thing but I'd have a look. I'd be unsure about the busy road outside. Give me a detached house overlooking one of the nearby cliffs, then you've got me sold. Except that would for sure be way out of my budget.

SueblueNZ · 12/05/2023 00:00

I cannot see any off-street parking. That would put me right off.

I thought there was a two door parking garage (white doors). Unless that's something else.

HeBeaverandSheBeaver · 12/05/2023 00:02

Need the loo in the kitchen and it's two flights of stairs

maximist · 12/05/2023 00:04

So it was just me who giggled like a teenager at photo 11 then? Maybe the bottle of red wine I've downed tonight helped 😂🤣

Is that at the end of that looong messy garden?

That's what I think it is. Give me a house on the cliff that can be seen in the distance. :-)

Disappointing kitchen. Is it your house OP? Good way to stir interest 😉

SueblueNZ · 12/05/2023 03:18

Long walk from the car in wet weather. Also, I think the front lets it down badly with the gas bottle and wheelie bins.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/05/2023 06:42

But all those houses are hours away from Whitby so no good if you actually want to live there.

I like it. They were attracted there as young goths and decades later, while they are now grandparents, they still want to acknowledge this as one of their passions.

The bedrooms in pictures 7 and 9 are delightfully out of character with the rest of the house. It reminds me of the Addams Family movie where Pubert reacts to the stresses caused by Fester's return and Debbie's plot to steal the family money by turning 'normal'.

It'd be easy enough to put parking at the front like next door.
There's a few grand houses in whitby for sale at the moment. Most struggle for gardens and parking but are amazing homes. This house does better than most in that respect.
I think the basement kitchen in a shame but again perhaps move the kitchen to the ground floor and have the basement as storage or den for teenagers?
Of the old houses in that area of whitby, I've seen a few with basement kitchens.

Hardly any back garden though, and lots of steps!

JuneShitfield · 12/05/2023 08:25

I’m not saying that generic estate agent copy is the last word in good writing but I read guff like that and I immediately think ‘nope, vendor’s going to be a total nightmare to deal with’. Puts me right off.

Dymaxion · 12/05/2023 08:41

I like it, it feels like a home as opposed to an insta curated space. Yes there are things I would change decor wise, but the bones of it are lovely, I like the messy garden and have greenhouse envy Smile

Biggest downside is lack of toilets/bathrooms with that many floors, but you could add one in the utility ? one near the entrance, next to the boiler room ?
