Fell over in the mud yesterday and apart from looking like a tit, I put ny arm out to break my fall. I've done something to ny upper arm. Shoulder I think is ok and wrist fine. But anything that involves using or moving upper arm and bicep muscle is really painful. If it stays in the sling it's OK. Slept OK as long as I didn't move upper arm. Nothing visible maybe the beginning of a bruise. A and E?

The first 2 weeks are the worst, when is your next x Ray to check the healing? For the itchy sweaty armpit I used Hibiscrub to gently clean under my arm, my DH did it with a facecloth. I did mine in July though and it was so hot. I had to come off Naproxen, the consultant said it inhibited the initial healing stage. Ice helped me too. 💐 its frustrating but no heroics 😂 let it heal. Xx

I've managed to soak it and dry it and just about managed to get some deodorant on. Hopefully that will help. Next x Ray on Tuesday

The acute pain of my breaks only lasted about 72-96 hours, after that I didn’t need pain relief. Get lots of calcium in your diet was a tip I was given (though I was also ebf a 4 month old!) and cut yourself a lot of slack. You are expending a lot of energy on healing and your mood will go up and down. I was 12 weeks completely non-weight bearing when I did my leg, made the lockdowns feel horribly familiar when they came! Build in visitors, small treats, jobs around the house to keep you busy household filing can be done one handed, as can sorting photos, clearing out junk drawers and ask people to take you out, lots of people are kind!

Thank you
I'm already cutting down on the painkillers and I've realised I can move my shoulders around and up and down with no pain. There's a particular deep pain when I use the top part of my arm or bicep but I haven't worked out quite what triggers it yet. When I'm sitting here with a sling on it doesn't hurt at all.

Glad to hear about the improvement. Respect the pain but keep mobility where you can.
