Since this is a slightly more factual one: meals varied greatly between classes and regions, but unsurprisingly it's the upper classes we have the most evidence for. In the early nineteenth century (Regency, Jane Austen sort of time) lunch wasn't really around. People would eat a late breakfast and then dinner time varied between London and the country, with London keeping later hours (c.8pm vs c.5pm). Afternoon tea came in for people keeping London hours so that they'd have something between breakfast and dinner. Supper was something light before bed, especially for people who had kept country hours and had had an early dinner. The upper classes would thus have 2-3 meals a day. As far as we know, people working in manual jobs may well have had only one meal a day, which was generally eaten in the middle of the day and called dinner (dinner is the name for the main meal of the day, whatever your class, but class determined what time it was eaten). If they could afford to eat again, they would, either breakfast or supper, but many couldn't afford it.

Trifle is disgusting. Soggy bottom and now often even the top bits are tasteless cream, custard and jelly. Appreciate the latter complaints may be less true of homemade ones.

Any tomatoes other than the vine-ripened (read: expensive) ones are useless and taste like dirty water.

'Dog friendly' needs to GTFO of here, or at least be hugely reduced. I say this as someone who has had many beloved doggy pals over the years.
